What is up everybody? Welcome back to the Eric Chow Empowers Podcast. In this episode, I sat down with my friends, Eliza Andrada and Bianca Buku, and we talk about a ton of different topics. The first big umbrella topic was relationships. We talk about monogamy versus polygamy. We talk about the current state of dating today, including dating apps. We talk about finding a quote unquote V one and finding soul mates as well. We talk about the importance of having a partner who respects your culture and who you have similarities with and who can you respect the differences with because oftentimes, you know, it's important to have partners that have some similarities but also are able to respect those differences.
We also talk about passing down culture to children culture referring to food language rituals and religion and other things like that and how important it is to us personally and as as children of immigrants Bianca is also an immigrant herself so It's interesting for us to think about and I think you guys will find the topic interesting and hearing our perspectives and maybe create your own opinions on it if you haven't thought about it before. The second major topic we had was social media culture. We talk about things like how easy it is and how almost automatic it is to share our thoughts or lives even on social media platforms like Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, stories and so on and so forth, and how automatic it's become, and sort of the cause of that, and also its impact.
We also talk about the benefit of social media cleansers. You'll hear two people myself in the lines that talk about how we did our own social media cleanse and why it helped us and why it didn't help us. how you can also think about using it in your own lives by hearing both of our perspectives because we have slightly different ones. We also talk about the change and the shift away from social media and how our use of it has changed since exiting high school. Now. Those are two big umbrella topics, but you'll find as you listen to this episode, there are a ton of mini topics and random funny stories and questions that are thrown around in the episode.
We'll switch very quickly, you'll find, from those mini topics to some big, some more major, major ones that show up throughout the episode. And some of those many topics are things like superpowers, celebrity crushes, and more. There's some really great stories in here. So I think you guys will enjoy this very entertaining and interesting episode. So without further ado, because I've blabbered on long enough, let me introduce you to my friends.
Guest
You're listening. Episode 13. Okay, we're starting now. It's recording like right now. Good morning America for BBC1 Eric Shouse radio. It's a live on draw. I am so shocked by Eric's radio station. It is amazing. You get a whole view. Eric, why don't you all pet tiger races?
Eric Chow
You have no idea what I was doing with split. All behind the scenes. Yeah, we're just messing around here.
Guest
Yeah, no, no. We're just, yeah, no. So today, we're talking about the day. I don't know what we're talking about. We're going to talk about the most controversial topic. Knowing the man is golf a sport. What is a sport?
Eric Chow
Yeah. We're like, we should just get into like the clock. We've been trying to think of topics to talk about because we're coming in here, like just winging. Like I do with every episode. We just wanted to collaborate with you and we're just kind of thinking about topics. So a lot of before like, I think, I mean, I mean, I think the main topic we wanted to talk about on this episode was something in relation to love. Okay. Because we were just watching a bunch of like, Bianca and I watch a lot of like Jubilee and like, it's like that they were like cutting all that stuff.
Yeah. And then they were like, you know, because like, you know, Jubilee, they have like those things where you just sit down and you talk about stuff. And then I was just like, I think like, you can have really good conversation over there. So you always talk around like, Hey, what are we going to hit on Eric Chow?
Guest
Yeah. And then y'all messaged me at two seconds. No, because we were talking about it at like, We talked to each other, I like, 10 to talk about it. And then we went on like a whole other tangent. And then it hits like 2 AM again and we're like, yo, we didn't come there. I was like, we went at 10. And then it ended up being a 2 AM. Like four hours later. Because within that, we were like doing like card stuff like I was in card reading.
Eric Chow
I want to hear about that because I know like zero. I know. We can start with that. Sure.
Guest
Yeah, we did card readings in a magic. So I get like a bunch of playing cards and I can read your future. I get it accurate. Like why? It's pretty. Okay. It looks like a bad track real quick. So the reason why like Bianca or like we started like doing the card reading stuff is because we were just kind of exchanging like, like vocal problems or whatever. And then, yeah. And then I remember like. A couple years ago, Bianca was like, hey, you did it. I'm gonna say card reading. It's like real life. I'm gonna walk. Before in a pinking, I would ask the like, do you want your future read?
And then I do it in the middle class. And I remember getting her upset because her reading was bad. I was like, it's not my fault. Because you can think, you can think that like, it's super vague. But like, because Bianca knows me and she knows my situation, the thing she was putting down It's not like something I can just pull that's like, that's like, kind of relate to me, actually related to me. So it was just kind of like her readings are pretty accurate. And, side note, I'm gonna like plug your earlids. I've done strangers and I've gotten it right. So yeah, guys, Ben Mommy.
Yeah, it really is just so, like when she did mine, it wasn't necessarily the future, but it confirms everything I've been saying. And it's just like, Well, I'm not actually crazy. Like it just, like these cars are like, it's so, it's so weird, right? Because like you think it's like, oh, it's just cars. It's not really, it's not gonna tell you anything or whatever. But if you're like, everything that was like, every car that you pick is still like necessary to you and just like, it just kind of goes with what needed to happen for you to know like. So Eric, you want your future read?
Really? For real, yes. Okay, you have to pick a person that you're kind of interested in. That's the only kind of person. That's the spread that I know how. So like the way this happened or the way I learned about it was my cousin would do it to me in middle school and she had a different spread. But that one you can see how many guys like you. But I don't know how accurate it was. How many guys like you? I don't know how to do that one. Can you be in love with me? Okay. Can you be in love with more than two people?
Eric Chow
Yes or no? I feel like it's not gonna be that simple as a yes or no.
Guest
I really don't I don't think it can be that simple Well, would you are you like would you say? You're more like you would want a monogamous relationship. I would probably say that yeah I was kind of conflicted. I mean, I personally would like want to I'm not in this relationship, but I feel like that concept itself is just so complex. And when I think about it, like, when I think about it, like super like from a bird's eye perspective, it shouldn't be that hard, but it is such a complex like topic. You know what I mean? What's your thoughts?
Eric Chow
I feel like it really just depends on like the partners, like some people will be okay with the polygamous relationship. Other people really do need the monogamous. Oh, okay. I'll start with if you're dating, it's got to be monogamous. Like this just if it if you're having sex with a lot of people and you're still in the dating stage, it's just going to be messy. It's going to be complicated.
Guest
This can be insecurity. So on so forth.
Eric Chow
I don't think it's going to work there. I don't know. I really don't see the point in it.
Guest
I really don't. Like having more than one partner? I don't know. I feel like some people might be okay for them.
Eric Chow
I think it depends on personal preference. I don't think it's something that there's a moral obligation that you have to follow in a certain way. I don't feel like it is that way. I feel like it's literally just preference. Hey, are you okay with it? Hey partner, are you okay with it? Let's talk about this and then figure it out that way. Me personally wouldn't want it, but I think some people would prefer it. And I think that some people would also judge people for wanting that. They would probably like criticize and put people down for wanting like the polygamous relationship.
Guest
But if that's how it is, if that's what they're okay with. Because you know when people are saying something like like if you're not a virgin anymore, right? Um, does your worth go down? I feel like sometimes people who do judge like the people who? No, no, no, not like that But like wants like other partners as well. It's kind of just like do they think like their worth goes down or something because you're just kind of Quocope being around or whatever I think so I think it's whatever set agreements you have with your own partner It's like personally for me I lean towards monogamy.
Yeah, okay. Yeah, I think that as humans are more complex like it it isn't just black and white to how a relationship should be. But person for me, I believe in quality over quantity. So if there's more than one partner, one person, that quality is compromised depending on how many people you interact with. Like you can resonate with someone so deeply in love. them and love multiple people but the quality goes down with the higher the amount of people you what is it like just like two people because I was thinking like you know how sometimes it's kind of hard to be in a relationship right and then they lack something and then eventually find some person right your intentions is not to like like get with them but it's just like they aren't lacking the things that your partner's lacking so sometimes it's like people would be like Oh, maybe I actually feel like my partner knew more. Maybe I like this guy, right?
Eric Chow
So I feel like maybe for people who like want multiple partners, right? It's just kind of like they just found some way to, I guess you can say like vibe with other people at the same time. But then yeah, to fill their veins. But I personally just, I personally just would want a monogamous relationship just because it's just kind of like, you know, when you're like, Oh, there's like seven birds before the world. And then it's like you choose this one person and then you just kind of evaluate. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah.
Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah. Devote, yeah and I find someone else who does, then I don't see any reason why I can't have that relationship as well. Sure, I should of course I'll communicate it to the partner, but I don't see a reason why I shouldn't have that. I think it only becomes complicated when it starts being more of a relationship rather than a friendship.
Guest
That's when it becomes more complicated. No, I totally get you. I get you. You think it's like rooted in less? It could be. It could be. That's... most is another topic. I'm getting into that too. Are we getting into that too?
Eric Chow
Yeah, because our generations go from home. We're all scared to settle down. And we have a fear of missing out at this age. Because every time you go on Twitter, it's always about relationships. And it's always on your face. Like, oh, you're single. I know, I don't understand why it's so like... I don't know. I know the topic of like relationships in general is so like I feel like there's a lot of There's like Twitter's kind of split in half like there's like this side. It's like It's okay, but then there's the other one that just kind of like Look what he did for me.
I know what he did for me man. Thank you. Thank you. I don't know What is love? Hey, what is love? Can you find love like Well, what do you feel about dating apps? How do you feel about that? How do you feel about like? You know, I was I was I had another episode I'm trying to remember which episode it was but someone was saying like they were just they were on a dating app Yeah, they were vacationing in New York City And they were on a dating app and they just hung out with like several people they met through the dating app Wow not even like to pursue the because she's vacationing Yeah, but like just to like go hang out and then like stayed in touch for a couple of weeks after.
I don't know if they're still in touch. But so dating apps, I think could work. I don't see a problem with it. I think certainly it'll be better for like creating friendships or just something to just hang out with different people and get to know new people. I think people who want to look for an actual relationship and choose to use a dating app, I don't see a problem with it. I think as long as they know that they need to meet up in person somehow and they need to somehow establish trust and get into, I think they should really take it from like, hey, we're on the stating app and go to some sort of more real and physical sort of connection.
I think that's super important. I don't know. I don't see a problem with it. I think they as long as they don't spend too long, which is. Yeah, yeah.
Guest
I think that like everything is kind of just it starts off at face value Like we love each other not love just kidding You take things at a surface level and I mean, what's the difference between Potonic love versus romantic love, right? You're attracted to that person and there's like a lustful intent, so I don't think there's anything wrong with Being in those dating sites. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong either. I just I don't know. I feel like I mean, I don't know why I personally just don't want to I think okay personally I just the only reason why I wouldn't do it is just because I feel like for me I have to just be like broskies with you first You know what I mean like that's fine broski for the viewers that don't know I do it too I say viewers all the time and I'm like no one's watching I was telling your house those big Aryans Um, like I have to be kind of like just friends with I I want I don't really have okay personally dating isn't really my forte it's just cuz I don't know for me personally I don't have a need to Be with it like to have a partner so I haven't really gone like oh like what I do to like find a boyfriend or anything like that but If I do want to find someone I feel like I just have to be like really good friends with them first So that's why I feel like dating apps won't work for me because the purpose of dating apps is to date.
Right? Necessarily like for friends, you know, like I'm gonna get 10 nade and be like I'm gonna make some friends today. I'm gonna make some friends today. I'm gonna make some friends in the looking.
Eric Chow
I got a little dessert. I saw the mirror and stuff like that.
Guest
Yeah, but that's like the only reason why I wouldn't do it. It's just we Again, it's just personal. Yeah personal preference. Yeah, I don't see anything wrong I think right now I'm trying to be comfortable with being alone because I'm so sensation based sometimes Sorry But yeah, I think that it there's also like an added validation when you're on those sites Yeah, when people like swipe right on you and you immediately feel better about the way you physically And for me, I'm at the stage now where I don't need that external battle. That was a hard word. But yeah. I think some people get too into like really needing, almost needing a relationship.
Eric Chow
And I think it's good that like, I'm also the same way. I'm very comfortable. It doesn't really matter. I don't really need to look for it. Look for a relationship and then that validation is also interesting Australia removed the likes on Instagram We what? Yeah, they did that so so they literally removed the likes and I was I was messaging someone maybe a week ago in Australia and she's like yeah, we literally don't have likes
Guest
Wait, that's crazy. How do you crush his like, you know, you want him to see it?
Eric Chow
You don't know if he's seen it. I don't know if they have the scene or anything. I don't know what they I don't know how exactly how it works, but like I think that a lot of people really put their sense of self-worth sort of into those sort of metrics like so whether it's swipe-wrights or Comments and whatever it is exactly exactly
Guest
That's like kind of crazy. It's kind of when you think it sometimes it just like I'd sit in the car like in silence because I feel like I just need some like me time right on my way to school because of traffic whatever and I would think about how like before it really was like not like this like without internet Like you know me like other than like the stuff like oh we wouldn't have um, I don't know we can get I'm way format easy. I'm not even like less than getting like school stuff or like other external things but like when it comes to like yourself, it's like crazy how just everything now like the social media and stuff like you're portrayed in a different way.
It's like you have your image like your image other people's image of you is like really just Through pictures like whatever you say I think that's I think that's so crazy because before it's like You have to meet the person in order to get some kind of like image of them and now it's just I can imagine the thoughts How do you look like right now? Yeah? Exactly. What are you wearing? I'm like really? Like that's crazy. It's just crazy how How much over like within span of like 10 years everything has changed you had a page before before like you had some occasion And I was like you just press a button That's so crazy And yet to be rich to you I know it's like What's the move? And then like before they can lie now it's like I'm checking location Where you at bro?
Eric Chow
Yeah I know I don't know but like I feel like even though in this day and age Social media is so like high up here. I feel like a lot of people want to stick To their roots as well like as in like the old school. Yeah, like finding another person or something. Yeah, you know like I mean I saw that one tweet I saw it we were like oh Like I like an old school or whatever like you know taking you on dates and being like your parents and then When I'm when I read that I was still kind of taking it back because I was like all like holding time like my mentality was Has been like that.
No like that. That's like like for Like for her to tweet that and then say like it's kind of really like not normal anymore. I was like, well, wait, what? Like, I really like that's so crazy. Like I'm like my brain was genuinely saying like that's just kind of normal. Like I still would want to go on dates first instead of saying, oh, like, dating hour or whatever. And I want him to be like my parents and like I want him to try to get their approval. I thought that was just kind of normal. So for me to see that tweet, I was just kind of take it back.
I was like, oh wait, that's not how it is. I have hair that you can see. Eric, so Eric wants to live until he's 90? Yeah. I want to live until 90. I want to die in my bed surrounded by my children with a belly full of food. Wait, dude, that's so set up, Eric. What if it's like no, oh, it might be that would just be like my ideal. Oh, that's so cute. If I if I die some other way, if I die earlier, if I die some other situation, it's all right. But that would be like my ideal situation.
Guest
That's a long time. That is a long time. By the time we're 90, okay, maybe just because I've been watching my hero, but like I hope like we've evolved to have like some kind of super powers by that time. Dude bet really? I want super powers like every time I'm driving to school, because it's like kind of a long drive like two minutes. And I'm like, what if we just have like the last airman? What if I can fire bin right now?
Eric Chow
Yeah, how am I gonna get you to school? You should the fire out of your feet and then you're just flying.
Guest
Well, I think about it, superpowers all the time when I'm irritated. On my way to Davis, I have so much traffic. I was like, what if I can just lift the car and shove it? Scrape me, you know? Oh, so this is a super power here. I'm super here with talk now. Oh my god. Let's do it. Honestly, I always wanted to have speed. Some mild runs? Nah. I wanted to fly.
Eric Chow
Like that's such a cliche answer, but I really want to see you flying.
Guest
Thank you. I wish I was like bye. You were all like meditating in class. I'm not just so it's levitating. I knew it. It's my reach enlightenment. It's level of consciousness. Dude is like the actual levitating. Hey, do you think levitation is like for real? Can you levitate? No, it's not like some kind of study. To like that you can like lift a person up with just a finger. Oh, yes. Yeah. Is that for real? No, that's a legit thing. That's a legit thing. How come we never tried that?
Eric Chow
Oh, yeah, you did. You did. There's a game that I played with my church. So you would have two fingers like this and you put in your armpits and then here and then we can lift a person up. And I did it. We lift like four little girls like by height. We lifted a guy that was kind of like super big and you were like, whoa. Like he went up with literally just like pointer fingers. Yeah. Wait, how does that matter? I think or light is a feather. That's the game. You can search it up. Wait, how does that even work? Because I think we underestimate how strong we actually are.
Did it feel physically straining? No. It felt like I really don't know how that works. And then they lifted me up. I got scared because I went really. Okay, where does that there's like some? Topics like that like I don't know where that falls under like is that under like psychology is that under like physics Like what did like what does that thing fall under because there's like another topic like on my way to Davis like if which is like almost like a two-hour drive, right? My friend and I were talking about how like She can like feel things or like say like she'll like think about no She'll think about like a person right and then the synchronicity happens that they taught like That person will hit her up or something like that.
Like it's just like so crazy how like it's a synchronicity, right? But oh, oh, that's fine. That was fun. I'm like, can I miss it? Can I kiss? Or you can just keep it off. You're like, beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep angry but like it's not towards her but she was just like she's so she just asked like are you angry today and then he was like yeah like how did you know I've done that to yeah it's like you know he has that superpower dude that's a superpower no see what is that though like is so is energy really real like that aura I think so yeah you can take a picture of your energy really yeah I watched a video on it.
You know what? You can't even go to the conference list or something and then they take a picture of your energy and then you guess what color it is but it's kind of rigged because you pay like $60. Oh fuck. Oh wow, you know what? I'm broke out. My energy? I don't need to see. Yeah, but where does energy fall under? Like is that like just a spiritual thing? Is that just like... Is that a psychology thing? Like, we're just- I don't think I'm looking at Eric Leakey knows me. Sure, spiritual. I saw something about physics calling it quantum energy. I don't know what the- I don't know. I don't know. I don't know anything.
Guest
I just saw those two words. I read those books. Quantum energy. Yeah. Or like quantum something. What do you mean? No, it's not quantum physics books. Damn. Or babies, but it's still.
Eric Chow
Well, if that would be... Yeah, I like that. Wait, I want that. I want to read it.
Guest
Maybe see physics. No, that'll... Quantum entanglement. Dude, you want me to be a bad mathematician. My septide-syphysics major. Oh, okay. We were like... There we go. I'm like, I know how... How do you walk this dargam? I'm gonna tell. I wanna read my baby sister.
Eric Chow
Who the ex says I'm gonna write a book explaining quantum to a two year old or a one year old. She's gonna be a mathematician. I thought I was good. Her sister's one.
Guest
Her sister is one, bro. Why are you trying to read her quantum? And you're a genius. What about it? She starts like... Starts writing notes. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings.
You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your codings. You see your cod My password is math sucks With numbers but don't log into it That's exactly what went on her head for sure I'm sorry, you don't cut that out all mathematicians are gonna be like Okay, like what's that? What do you guys think about love? Is it real? I mean is it true? Can you really is there a serious?
Eric Chow
Yeah, I'm being serious right now. Oh, it's on the plate She did transition straight from a joke to like serious Okay You were saying something else like you were going more into it.
Guest
I was saying something like oh, you know people were saying like oh He's the one I think I go to soul mates, right? But I feel like a soul mate when you say the one I think I don't believe it has to be romantic because I truly believe Camille Santos is my soulmate. Hi Camille. Hey, so like if we're talking about soulmates right now and mine is listening to this hit my line. You gotta say it out for now. Soulmates. You said you said soulmates?
Eric Chow
Yeah, it's soulmates like what are soulmates? I feel like soulmates are just it's that word to just describe like not to be cheesy but truly like your other half. And I don't think your other half has to be like your partner. I feel like it's just someone that truly you feel is just another an extension of you as well. And you're just each other. I don't know how to like explain that. That's just the only thing I can think of is just how I feel with me. Yeah, I feel like it's just like a really deep connection, like really clicking with someone. Someone who like really gets you.
Guest
Yeah. So can you have Bell 1? You see like people get divorced, right?
Eric Chow
Yeah, but it's not like maybe the first marriage it wasn't that it was bad. It was just the fact that like the love just kind of died out, but it's not like they regretted that for one time. Yeah, I think this goes into synchronousness because if you think that everything happens for a reason and these coincidences then eventually the right person is gonna come at that time. So if all those cities can speak today, leave to that person and say hi. So you're saying like there is just kind of like one the one? I don't think there's one. I think you're a multiple because in different shapes and forms like it could be I don't know.
I think my sister because I love her so much, but she doesn't she doesn't have a personality So it's like the one the soul me or is the one not necessarily the same way it's just how you interpret it I think I think one there is no like one soul me I think there's gonna be multiple in someone's life, and I think there's the chance for more I don't really like the idea of quote the one I don't really like that idea. I don't know why either.
Guest
I just I feel like maybe just saying the one's kind of gives like this stigma that like I don't know maybe because if you say the one right just saying no one else kind of really can it quake to this person? So that's not necessarily true.
Eric Chow
You know what I mean? Like I feel like it's just a term people throw around just to be like oh yeah you're This is special. It's fun thinking about it. It is. But I feel like it... There's like how... How are you... One, how are you gonna know? It's quote the one. Like that's just a ridiculous concept. And you spend your time doing that.
Guest
I think it's just a waste. Can everyone have a swimming? Or like, none of me like... Not can they have one, but do you think it's like... Everyone is cocoa-borne with... Someone like you know some people this is so you know some people you know they prefer to be alone I think each person comes in with a different lesson Whoever you're meant to be with whether that person is aligned to your future right right then they're gonna teach you a lesson that you needed to learn at that moment I agree and If you do find that person that pieces you the lesson that I want to grow with you then you can justify that that's the one.
Whereas other people taught you, oh don't compromise too much of yourself or don't. I like it. I like that. So that's my perception of when you say soul mates. Whoever is gonna grow with me and make me love myself more than that's the person who I think is going to teach me that lesson and therefore that's the one. I like it. Can you like describe this? Give me a kiss. Oh my god, you went over here like he's like listening to this.
Eric Chow
I'm gonna send this episode specifically to Camille. I'm gonna send this specifically to you.
Guest
That's it. I'm gonna send this to everyone. Eric, Eric, did you know this? So, oh wait, I haven't called it like a homework or a homework. Camina like kiss. I did know about that. Hey, Brad. I told her my goal. We've been bad. I've been to kiss her again. I can kiss her again, right? And then he told, he sends me a meme that's like, choke. But then I was like, I didn't hear a no. You still didn't tell me a no. You just sent me another meme. I was like, so that's, you're taking that as a yes then. I'm taking that as a, I just don't do it, Brandon. You're running election, Eric?
Eric Chow
Yeah, I think I would be I think I would be a horrible politician I genuinely think that I feel yeah either that I'd also think like there's always that political maneuvering stuff like that I feel like I'd be trash I don't think I would do very well Oh, my current plan for this election is I am going to wait until the finals come because I'm an independent so I can't go for any primary So I'm not gonna know anything about anyone's policy because I'm supposed to waste the time So I'm just gonna find out the last two I am ready.
Guest
I'm good. I'm done. I'm ready. It's pretty easy. Why? It took Eric's podcast for you to tell me that you're not asking. Okay, well, okay, maybe he's never talked about... Are you citizen? I don't think that just comes out. Yeah, I don't think that just comes out. Yeah, that just doesn't come up casually. Yeah, that's not how it works.
Eric Chow
I heard citizenship stuff too, so really long time.
Guest
Dude, what the fuck? Yo! It's not Abraham Lincoln. Shit, I'm illegal. It has nothing to do. You know, I don't eat chocolate. What? I don't eat chocolate. I think I'm leaving all of this in. It's like everyone else has like a really specific like, oh cool. Well, okay. Here's the thing every episode we discussed way more than actually putting title.
Eric Chow
I just picked like three of the more prominent ones.
Guest
Honestly, I don't know if anyone's listening except me because I have to Yeah, I don't think I don't think anyone is listening
Eric Chow
If anyone was listening to this right now, I would actually listen to every episode.
Guest
I need to reward them somehow. Mr. Land, I'm talking to you. You're in like your room and you're like, you're listening on music. You're listening to us hop like, so monogamous relationship is really... There's a new dance. Yeah, I'll do that. Crazy. Eric, what made you want to start the podcast?
Eric Chow
Honestly, it was a very random thought. Because I did articles first and then I did a few IGTV videos And then I got kind of tired of like filming myself and I was like I can talk and so I randomly came up with the idea of a podcast and Maybe I don't know a week later. I was like hella spontaneously on a Friday Today's a Friday actually this is some weekly anniversary. I don't know what it is. But like on some random Friday, I was just like Why don't I just do it? And then I just did it.
Guest
And then here I am. I don't know what you did tell me that. Now it's kind of low-key kind of truth. That's amazing. I'm not that professional. Yeah, yeah. That's a real ambitious. I Not the ones that I like actually... Did you like Korra?
Eric Chow
Asami was pretty pretty. Oh she was. No they were all cool characters but I didn't have a crush. Did you watch the Avatar movie though? That was trash. That was tragic. I was so disappointed.
Guest
I don't even think I meant it. Hey do you think I hope so? You know Shaolin Monks kind of beauty?
Eric Chow
Yeah. So like they're able to like wait this is what they say. I don't know. They like move their energy to like Like some vulnerable parts. So I've seen like a dude lay on like like there would be five spears. I think one goes at throw. I don't know. Like one somewhere on the leg. Two of them somewhere on each leg. And then like I don't know if body or arm, but like they'll just like straight up lay on it with no one holding.
Guest
And apparently they're like, it's sad that they use like energy so that they don't like die.
Eric Chow
I think they like laid they have like bricks couple bricks laid up on top of their like stomach or something and so on with it like soon as a sledgehammer on it Yeah, some crazy I have no clue what if we just do all the threatening things No, I think it's just like they're all tasked I saw a dude get kicked. I saw I think I think the first time I found out was I saw Shaolin Monk in a video, like super scientific, like I think it was like a professional kickbox or something, kick the guy in the nuts and like dude was fine. Right?
Man of Steel. And they like tested this guy's like kicking power on like some robots and stuff. So like they were like measured like scientifically how much force is being created like everything.
Guest
It was great. I find the video I'll send it to you. Wait, that's so like, I wonder what kind of, like how do they get to that level? Like, is it just, you have to crack? Like how do you even...
Eric Chow
I don't know. I don't think it's that simple.
Guest
I did do martial arts for a while.
Eric Chow
And I'm probably, and I'm probably uploading, well, this doesn't matter to the listeners. For you to I'm probably uploading an episode with another fellow my father's the one I did I actually this is a fun fact I met one of Bruce Lee's best friends Oh yeah I'm not Bruce Lee when I was like to No, like I actually met one of Bruce these best friends a couple times. Yeah, he was like 91 because because we were at a martial arts seminar and there were a ton of us And so they were like oh you see that guy who just that old guy who just walked in he's like Okay, first of all he's 91 he walks in with a cane and like someone supported him.
Guest
I do it's not even in a wheelchair.
Eric Chow
Yeah, I do still walk in Imagine a 91 you don't have a cane that's just so he just walked in and I'm like the hell is this all dude and then the dude next to me goes oh, yeah, that's just Great Grandmaster Alan Joe and I'm like who the hell is that he's like oh it's a world war two veteran and one of these best friends helicopter them like I've met like I've met like two or three great grand master is like too high The masters are usually a degree maybe tense degree black belts I don't even think that's a different belt. I think that's you're just like that good of a grand massive and that senior that they just put a crate in front of you. I think that's what happened. Okay look either this old guy whoops me. He's like struggling to walk and he just whoops me.
Guest
You know the straight like master I I Okay, if I were to visit, I'm gonna take off my shoes.
Eric Chow
I'm gonna be like, oh there's a guest in here.
Guest
Oh my god. We should do that to lab. All three of us should just walk in. We should do that. If he listens to this, why don't you just go? Just message it like you want to go. And when? He's gonna be like, why are you just not doing it? I'm missing a slam. Yes, I had a job interview. That was like, what do you think? He'd say. We got a whole bunch of space on the topic of space. Okay Bianca and I were saying what can we do? Because we were thinking about topics, right? We were thinking about topics, and I'd be like, he's talking about how he can solve.
I said, what if there's just because there's so much trash, right? What if we just shove it all in a like, all in a car like we're walking? and then shoot it up in the sky! If the universe is like, shoot it up and a Bianca said, why don't it, if the world is like dying down here, what if we just live like the sky?
Eric Chow
So I was like, let's just live this realm. We don't breathe, that's what happens. What if we shoot the rock into the sun? Actually, you know, that sounds really dangerous. There's gonna be some big explosion and like we're gonna die. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's probably why I probably why I'm prescription is bad.
Guest
I don't know if you go to super ill then you can go in part. I'm saying this. I don't know if it's a hell of a dumb. Howie how do you not have glasses? I still have 24. What? It's yeah, I do like I just recently like That's crazy. Yeah, I don't understand. I'm really on my prom all the time. I'm in my family. I'm really confused. I'm blessed at the same time. That's literally... Does that how it works? Almost a Virgo, but I don't skip to a Virgo. Oh, okay. That's why I wrote cancer. How's that interesting? I was born in 11 11 No Respect to the moggs who do that do everything they do What are you doing?
What are you doing? Sorry, I was like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, I don't know. A little deeper thing?
Eric Chow
Yeah, yeah. And then that doesn't work so I could put it manually. And my heart sucks. Immediately you're just like, hell. And I remember like, I wasn't from my grandma's house. I grabbed a stick and I was shoving it down the hole thinking like, what if I can just pick one more thing? Pick the whole, that's definitely not how you...
Guest
This is gonna pick it. and then I grabbed the rock and I was like what if I just risk it? No! What if I just threw it right out? No, but I walked all the way to... You know what guy I'm in was? I walked all the way there to ask for help because there was no one near. And I was just like can I use your phone so I got left on my car and I can just see like all the teachers being scared because why is this... Why is this... Why is this... Why is this... asking for help with that? Like yeah, right?
Yeah, I kept calling and calling and then no one was picking up right I walked back and then I had like three hours to myself This is the opportunity. So I just stare at the wall and I was thinking oh my god, what if I just lay on the sidewalk and someone comes to help me? Did that work? No I didn't. The more of the story was to always keep your phone on you. And your keys. And your keys. No story. And three, yeah, luckily my neighbor came, so I use his phone. And my uncle, when he pulled up, he looked at me. He's like, you're a dumbass.
And you know you are a dummy. He took me up before. I got stranded where he lived at. Is my car over here? Oh, yeah, that's another thing And luckily had a spare and it was already six so I was gonna leave the house at three six and I was just outside What do you think you go out to the desk? Do you think there's a deeper meeting?
Eric Chow
Yeah, what's what's your lesson? I was just really just I know I was just keeping these on you. The moment it happened. I was talking to myself, right? It's like, yeah, it's like, wait, I can say it later. I don't know, cause it's challenging. But before I could do it, I think I just drank an extra amount of dough and bitch juice. I thought it was like a little action. I'm just too much. And I did both. I locked myself out of the house. Jesus, too. What the fuck? And he liked my tweet too. And I tweeted it. I did, I did. Cause that's when I got my phone back. So I tweeted it. The first thing you did was you grabbed your phone.
Guest
Classic, classic move. Hey, why do you think you're from top of Twitter? Okay. Why do you think people kind of have urges now to just keep tweeting everything that happens? Like I did like a super dumb like something dumb yesterday. Oh, this morning. And then like one of the things I did like subconscious like I mean, I mean, not subconsciously, but um. I wasn't conscious about it but like after I went on a whole like panic mode I just tweeted oh my god I remember I saw it. Yeah, yeah, so it's like I feel like I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who does that.
You know what I mean? Like how come it's so like it's crazy how it just That's how it's become. Yeah, like what's that fucking phone room be coming to like what more what more can we go to I think we can like evolve or whatever.
Eric Chow
I think one possible cause might be all the Because remember when vlogging was like a huge thing a couple years back? Everyone was just sharing everything. And so everybody's on say Twitter started to pick that up. Plus Twitter is like the easiest place to share what's going on in your life. Without having to film yourself. Yeah. Because it's just like open tap. Easy. Super quick. And it's like Twitter is I would think like a huge update platform like this is the place where people update each other. True.
Guest
Cause like it's not like because when you if someone were asked me what was your intent when you tweeted that it was like oh like I just tweeted. Yeah. I know I wasn't even like thinking like oh I want people to respond. It's automatic. Yeah, you just send it. Oh, that's crazy. People just don't want to be friends now. We do it. I
Eric Chow
She bowed to the walls, she bowed to some stuffed animals. Does that really keep that warm?
Guest
Does it keep that warm? Does it keep the shear? It's beautiful and bright. I don't know what's going on in there. It doesn't take that long to bow. Yeah, you just... Step one, you gotta stay straight. Step two, you just don't. I'm about to tweet something. You're just updating the world.
Eric Chow
Yeah. We just talked about how this is automatic.
Guest
I'm not the same. All you tweets that. Hey, this is super like, dip. But what do you think? I don't know. I just, I was thinking about deep downtown. I was like, do you have any regrets that you have still? Oh yeah. Really?
Eric Chow
Yeah. Uh, one of my biggest ones that I've had for a while is so my grandfather, like I said, okay, so Chinese Burmese. Okay. He doesn't speak English. I can't speak a word. Well, that's not true. But only Burmese words I speak of the foods. Okay. And so that's not really great conversation. And my Chinese is extremely limited. Again, can't converse with him. So my biggest regret is that I never got to have a conversation with him because he is an amazing human being. And he passed away January 2017. And so the only way I got to know him was someone translating for me one, stories that people tell me, which I've heard plenty.
And We also had a our own little mini sign language. Oh, when I was a kid So we had a few little hand signatures that it was basically I don't even know if my parents probably knew them. I don't know if they did my sister probably knew them I don't know she did but it was For sure like me and my grandfather would do a couple things and he'd be like oh, yeah, I know exactly what you want But is this something like you feel like you could
Guest
Yeah, like you were like oh, can your parents be good? Like would you have just awesome?
Eric Chow
So I when I was little I went to Chinese school, okay, and then I stopped because I hated it so that was a chance I also took Chinese at Logan I was I want to say in Chinese to pass but I guess I could have just been like I didn't try hard enough on like trying to learn Chinese because I kind of bullshit And I was just trying to like get the grades instead of learn language So I never really got a chance to talk to you.
Guest
So that's one of my biggest regrets. Sorry, I have like a lot of time. It's good. Okay though, but you guys it kind of brings me to a question where you think we can pass on our language. Because I think even though I'm four years ago, I was born there. I came here in Alton Island and I'm very American. A lot of people wouldn't even expect That's why you were so surprised. Yeah, I think in my head I don't like I can understand I don't but I don't want my kids to not know Like because the environment I grew up in right like we spoke my parents spoke English but They also spoke to me like in fact I look so I understand like how it is I understand like my grandparents and they can speak English too But I'm saying like I can understand them as well and then I'm also I'm not totally like whitewash or anything You know I still understand like how to use like my formal language and stuff like that But I'm just so scared to like how am I how am I supposed to bring the place I grew up in Into them if I was one who has just popped that I'm still not like who wouldn't have stuff you know what I mean like I can't get Yeah, I'm still second generation.
Like I wasn't like they're not gonna get first-hand people speak full language I feel like I'm not gonna say about that like that. I'm not able to teach them that stuff. Yeah, and because I came here Yeah, and I think about whether It's one of those feels great. I feel like what if he was like, oh, I don't want to speak. Also doesn't matter what culture is.
Eric Chow
I got you. I got you. I remember he's not even gonna listen to it.
Guest
I was talking to someone right and he said he doesn't want to. Oh, now you don't want to worry. To me, that kind of threw me off of it because you can't see him through your own culture. And I respect everyone that he does. Sure. Just in my standards because we were talking. Yeah. Sure. It was one of those deal breakers where I really want this to happen.
Eric Chow
Right. I think for me, since I don't speak Chinese or Burmese. Can you understand? No. Very little.
Guest
Very little. I can a little bit, but not much.
Eric Chow
So I really like, I can't pass anything. Well, if I can, but you understand traditions, like do you do a lot of traditions? Some. But not all we are very there's a lot of American like a very Americanized but there are a few traditions that we certainly do that are very distinct me like Asian either Chinese and Burmese heck sometimes I don't even know whether we're doing a Chinese tradition or Burmese tradition. I really don't I have no idea so I I don't know how I'm gonna do that either.
Guest
Well, do you want to like learn from my culture so far? or your kids or do you like or it's just kind of like are you obligated? I don't think it's obligated.
Eric Chow
At least not for me. Yeah, I just would want to be right. I think it'd be a really nice to pass it on.
Guest
Yeah, I think it's not completely necessary overall. Yeah, personally, I also don't think it's like the most completely necessary thing but I would highly, highly just probably do that. Like I still want them to say like formal things like saying, I think we had to like older people or saying something like that but um, I mean, you just said ugly.
Eric Chow
I mean, I think for me, I don't know if I'll be able to pass on my culture but I've been lucky enough to do traveling to do a pretty decent amount of traveling. So I think that's going to be very important to me because that's also an aspect of trying different cultures and it doesn't matter where I'm going if I'm going to another country. I'm picking up on some things, some behaviors, some language, some basics. So I think that's definitely going to be important to me traveling. and sharing culture that way. I think maybe I can prioritize, like pay attention to the culture while we're here to my kids. Oh yeah, no, that's a good thing.
Guest
That would be something I would do. I think I'm just kind of nervous because I mean, sometimes I'm not super in touch with my culture as much as I would like to be. So when there are moments, I feel like I'm not super in touch with it. Like I'll ask like the elderly, like I'm not straight up half Chinese I am still part of my grandpa is so like I would ask him even though he's Chinese he grew up in the Philippines so it was like yeah so it was like still like he's like not even really in touch with his Chinese I would ask him like oh like this and that because I'm so curious about and I feel like my kids might be curious about some traditions when I'll just be out of the lake and I just kind of feel bad like you know they're not even existing yet right it's just kind of like I don't know I just feel like I should know I should know you know about my about my culture and what like not necessarily just traditions, which is about my culture.
Yeah, I don't know I feel as though if it's a new vice-versing culture and you're in a society, you want to be a parent. Yeah. And if you want something serious, they have something. If they don't want to converse with you. Yeah, because it helps connect with my mom especially. So my step that's more American. I don't think I have to date with my disability but it would be sort of a practice with that. Yeah, I think for me personally it doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter for me. I feel like the reason why a lot of people date with their race, like, so much is like not necessarily like, oh, I'm going to only date in my race but I think like a lot of people, the reason why they date with the races just because it's like I'm not saying they're taking the easy way out but it's just kind of like comforting for them to know like oh like you know in like intergolic yeah intergolic you have like to say yes to the elderly you have to say albo right so for like for some guy that you're into who happens to be the same ethnicity or like yeah for him to meet like the parents and they say all one stuff it's just like oh wow like you already you kind of know already like my culture it's just kind of their comforting yeah I guess very like It's you your body can recognize it.
Yeah, so I feel like for me personally, it's not I don't I don't really care But I feel like just overalls. Yeah, I mean, I don't think it's like it just be nice I feel like what I was trying to just get at is like saying I feel like a lot of people day with me race because of that, you know, I think I think for me I Think I think about this completely like out of the realm of like relationships and I just think people in general need to be respectful culture
Eric Chow
And that's 100% come from my traveling. If I'm going to another country, there are some things I have to pick up. Otherwise, I'm going to be very rude. I have to be very respectful of culture. Or when I'm meeting people of a different culture, I'm like, okay, well, how can I, how should I make? I'm very much going to temporarily just conform to it and be respectful of it because that's important, I think. And, you know, beyond like whatever if it's a dating relationship or a friendship or whatever it is. I think people should be respectful of culture. They don't have to be like all in on it. They don't have to like learn and devote themselves to the culture. That's okay to me. As long as they're respectful of it.
Guest
And they I think care to understand it a little bit. That's very important. Yeah. They have a thing where you can't eat. I I'm not religious. I'm not religious. Are you Muslim?
Eric Chow
Yeah. I like going with spiritual but not religious. That's what I like to say. I actually did it for more than I remember doing on the trip and down the surface. I think it was a little awkward because you don't understand me as much and I realized that it would help me with my family. I think that's more difficult than culture. Because culture you can understand but religions here only. And if someone was Catholic it would help way more for my mom. My mom is speaking. I mean personally I don't It does not matter to me like what they believe in as long as they respect What I believe in like if I be able to practice how I want to practice that's fine But it becomes I remember Bianca and I were talking about it before like would you convert and I said yes because I I don't I mean I sound like hot is everything, but I don't want just that to be to get in the way of like Who I love but I'm saying but then when I thought about it I actually I'm not gonna let my beliefs change for another person.
Yeah, so I was like no I'm not gonna convert like that I can't believe I even said that like yeah, I would personally not convert but if we were able to like Find like if he was if he's in his religion. I'm in mind and we both say hey Like this is the middle ground. Yeah and that I'm okay with your religion, you're okay with mine, then so be it. I think the only time that it'd be hard is just what would the kids, yeah with the kids? Yeah, something like that. I think that's the only thing that'd be really hard. I think one thing I would say, and this is something I was talking about with a friend of mine, and this was probably a month ago I wrote an article on it too, I was saying like, I think a lot of religions are very institutionalized and like really limited.
So they're like very specific and pushing, I think very very specific beliefs, instead of more of general principles that are more flexible with the times. I think that someone who can be maybe more flexible with it, I think Just like, oh, hey, yeah, I'm going to hear your perspective. And like you said, respecting your beliefs, even if you agree with them or not, that's OK. It doesn't really matter. As long as you can respect it and not put it down, if you can be not so maybe not so hard on some of the more specific things, that's also a good thing. I think, unfortunately, religion is extremely institutionalized.
And a lot of like. religious places aren't focused as much on actual teaching of like the real value of religion I think and that's not like hating on any religion I have so much respect for it but I just I think that a lot of people have sometimes like made that into a problem so I think respecting it respecting the beliefs, talking about it, and like really going into like the beliefs and not like, oh hey, this is my religion.
Guest
Like this is the name of it. No, no, no, forget that. What do you believe?
Eric Chow
Yeah. Right. It's belief. Okay. Hey, I don't hear it. Someone write my Bible I'll edit it My title will be great grandmaster Is there a difference between a religion and a cult like genuinely?
Guest
I genuinely thought like if you really wanted to think about it tripping was a cool I think it is like not in a bad like you know when you say cold it's like oh yeah it's like we all chose to be there and everything we learned in no everything that we learned a lot of people are not open to it Yeah, there's conditions that we had to follow. And Mr. Lamb is a cult leader. I know, like if you really think about it, it kind of was. And like the things that we would do, like some of it with like some of the activities that we have to do really would make other people go, why would you even do that?
It's like, oh, because our class is rich. Yeah, no, if you really think about it, it kind of is. Is this spoiling? We're not here. It's not specific. It's not specific. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. It's kind of like pretty much a cold if you really thought about it. It's just like that's crazy. Yeah, it is. Because those specific things, you can cut this out. Because I think it's boiling.
Eric Chow
I think one thing that's kind of also kind of complicated about Twitter, like when we share stuff, like we were talking about really, like we share stuff like super automatically. but it's like we can't really tell what the other person is. Like what's happening. So like I've seen those tweets where they're like, oh, like when I tweet this, somebody might say, oh wait, that's how like suicidal. But really all that happened to me is like someone messed up my drink or something. Yeah. I was wondering like it's super small and we're just like exaggerating it for Twitter or whatever. Like we can't really tell what's going on behind it.
And I think. One thing that I did learn from tripping was like I used to be the type of person like when someone was asking me for advice in person Yeah, I would be like boom give it advice like when they were venting to me. Oh, yeah, yeah, I totally get what you mean right now And then I was and then like at some point I think it was through tripping I don't know I learned that like no I think sometimes I just need to listen first and then figure out what's needed and so I got better at that because You know, I started to realize, oh, people are doing the same thing to me.
Like, they're just giving their opinion and I really don't want their opinion. I just want comfort or I want them to empathize or something else. And like, it's easier to tell in person. And so I got to, I got much better. Like, people, when people started to vent towards me, I would be like, oh, okay, I have like these three things in my head right now that are, I'd love to give his advice. But I know it's not what they need right now. So I'm giving them something completely different. Yeah, I think it's really hard to tell over social media or tax.
Guest
It's so hard. Because Twitter is full of just unconscious. Yeah, yeah. And I'm unconscious too. And I think that whenever their own bias is what they think about, their own opinion, people are open-minded. I saw this on its page and they're really resonated. People are open-minded, but their own. They're only open minded to their own bias. Yes. Yeah, that's exactly right. I came into, I came into tripping thinking I was really open minded. And then after I have like challenged, because I know I've, I've like said some things, like I raised my hands that I don't agree with you with him. And it really, and I remember, I remember when I did that, it's like, it's, I would say like, because I think, because I think, because I think or I think it's just like, it is like.
I really did come to that class overminded but to my own by it. Yeah, to my own by it. Yeah, you're not really actually open-minded until like, I don't mean now I feel like I'm pretty open-minded until like concepts I wouldn't even think to even agree or like just accept in general. Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah, but on Twitter and since it's just words, it's like you can't even, you can't even.
Eric Chow
Right, so you don't know what someone needs. You don't know. Okay. Well, is this like a minor thing that they're exaggerating and joking about or is this like actually the serious? Yes, that's why it's like- Is it they need advice? Is it they need comfort? What is going on? Are they just trying to share their life and you just like like it move on? Like what are you supposed to do?
Guest
Yeah, that's why it's kind of hard to like you have to also be careful talking to other people because like yeah, you don't know like if they're just saying that to say that or they're saying that because You want help with it?
Eric Chow
Yeah, I think that's why a lot of people or celebrities or youtubers get in trouble because things are taking up and you can easily misread something else. I sometimes don't, I don't think like some YouTubers deserve like the crap they get because there's so many other people like so many other people like Have done that and it's like how come they're not getting just because they're not famous. They're not gonna get I agree with Ashline I'm like oh my god like this person has done great all their career and then there's like one mess up or something like Comes from the surface and it's like dude like not everyone's gonna be the same like for all their life Yeah, like Shane Dawson in the cat dude.
Oh my god. I was like what's going on here, right? Yeah, there's Yeah, I think people are very, very biased also very like people who want to be haters. They don't find anything. I was watching a clip of King Batch. He said something in an interview. He was like guys I really don't do interviews but I know you guys and I like you guys so that's why I'm here. But like I really don't do interviews and then they were like oh you haven't been in much controversy because As far as I'm concerned, King Batch hasn't. I don't know anything. But, and he was like, yeah, you're right.
I haven't been in much. I tried to, because I don't do interviews, which is where a lot of people mess up. Yeah. Because they can't like really curate their content or what they're saying. And then he was also like, but they find everybody. Like the people who want to hate, they find everybody. I'll be hit. I'll be. I'll get some shit sometime. That's what he said.
Guest
I don't want to ask like there's something I understand like right now with like Austin like the ace family like him giving the lollipop to that girl to that child I'm unfamiliar. Okay, so he brought one of I think is it an his niece or something?
Eric Chow
Yeah, he brought her to like Spencer's you know Spencer's have like some like inappropriate stuff like right she wanted this like Penis lollipop and he like recorded her all I do know this I do know this like there's some things that's like dude like you're older like how you know like how to like you know There's something like that but there's some other things. It's like okay. Well They apologize for they live if you would think like you know It was in the past or whatever. I'm thinking of Kevin Hart when you say that because Kevin Hart he was gonna host I think it was the Oscars and Big-time comedian makes sense very successful gentlemen Use for the most part a very good human being as far as people can tell and they found some homophobic tweets from like oh 708 and they were like Hating on him for it and he literally could not host Oscars Like the Oscars were like nah, you can't host it anymore and he's like it's oh 708 And he already apologized for it like back then It's not even like oh he threw him and then left. He already apologized in the past.
Guest
It's ridiculous. It happened. It's not like, you know, yeah, in that context he apologized for it.
Eric Chow
Right. Oh politics too. I know, I don't want to get too far into politics because that's a mess. But politics, like they always are like, oh yeah, this person did this and that was so horrible. Well, you know, you can't tell it's horrible when back then, like, come on.
Guest
Because honestly if we were recorded all the time, we're gonna say something. Oh yeah. Exactly. So it's like, dude. Oh my. Oh, I don't know. That's so true. That is so true. I would get in so much trouble. And me and Eliza talked about this. If me and her were like, we had our own vloggas or something and we would record everything without cutting anything. She'd get in trouble bruh non- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know we were talking about this issue we were like if it was between Me and Bianca who would get more in trouble? Bianca? No, I think I sometimes have a really dark sense of humor sure and it could be taking on a contact Yeah, so I have to know when to say something See that's why but it's so hard to it's like you don't want to work.
We're not trying to be offensive right But for me, for me right now saying I'm not trying to be offensive, people can say it right now saying, but by you saying that joke, you're trying to be offensive because you want to use that joke to make people laugh. You see what I mean? It's like everything I say can be offensive. And that's why it's so hard to like sometimes be raw because it does people like you said, right? People can be coco open minded. But what I say, like if I said I'm pro life. Oh, it's done. Yeah, it's done. I'm over. It's over. Everyone hates me but you don't understand like what I mean by pro life because you never asked Yes, I'm not pro life by the way.
I'm just saying like if I said that right it's like over because I have some Friends who are pro life. Yeah, but I still like set them I'm like I mean I had judgments at first but I have now accepted right but I'm saying like other people be like no put that person off like how are you even friends with them? It's like you know, you gotta talk to me.
Eric Chow
It's the same thing I was saying with religion to me like I was saying like don't I don't care like the like okay cool. You can tell me the title if you want yeah title of this religion But talk to me about the beliefs.
Guest
That's what I care about. Yeah, yeah, not necessary like so Yeah, I think in a way with comedians trying to handle Their own humor and the way they do stand up you can be offensively It's hard to find that blurred line. Yeah, it is and you could be offensively respectful in a weird way. Oh, yeah, people just know It's so subjective to each human being on how where that line is. So you can't please everyone.
Eric Chow
In fact, I would even say, like, this is difficult for celebrities, but I think for people like us, we like regular ass people.
Guest
I think you have a podcast, you're too good, dude.
Eric Chow
I would say that forget like other people's judgment. It doesn't matter what, like, it doesn't matter what you do. Like King Back said, like, they're gonna find something. You can be careful. Yeah, sure. But just do you. You're gonna be hated on either way.
Guest
So do you, you know?
Eric Chow
Yeah. That is so just do you. Like, I'm not like, don't, don't like, if you're gonna be hated on, I'd rather be hated on for me than be hated on for some fake version.
Guest
Yeah, because it's like, you can. Go all your life trying to step around all these like eggshells, but there's just no way. Right. There's just no way. You're gonna just have to be silent. You're gonna be a mute. Honestly, even you people can probably get somebody could find defenses.
Eric Chow
Somebody could. Okay, this is an off topic, but Eric, check your Twitter.
Guest
What did you do? I tweeted something. You're tracking if you can't hear this Dude, why would you have to eat this? You guys are talking about how Twitter is talking, though We didn't say Twitter talks, we were just saying We were just saying some controversial things Honestly, we didn't even have a talk about Twitter and you'd still tweet this. I know you would Honestly, that's probably true. That's probably true I like Twitter though.
Eric Chow
We're like making up You know I haven't even had Twitter for a year.
Guest
I got it in December. I got it on Christmas.
Eric Chow
Really? I don't know if that was a gift.
Guest
I don't use Okay, I went actually on like Social media cleanse per week. Yes, I did too. And yeah, that was honestly it didn't feel I didn't feel like I didn't feel like straight up super super different like I wasn't being I'm gonna I was bored at sometimes, but I like to watch TV so it's like I just kind of said that I think like Really like I it's not necessary Even because I use it up so much. Yeah, but it's like I guess being like out of high school now and like everyone's doing their own thing you don't Your main thing is it really like I'm like a lot of social media see what everyone's gonna do Everyone's gonna be like I just kind of like you know, I kind of like finally some time to myself and we just do something else That's not like me looking at other people or me.
Yeah, like what image I'm trying to show myself as you know, I mean so it's like Social media is not everything, but it's very highly like I got a better life What? From Jackson.
Eric Chow
I think high school was a very like comparing yourself, being concerned with other people sort of thing. That's why like social media was so big back then. And now like you said, it still is. And we still use it all the time. But it's not I feel like it's at least for me, it's not as attached to me to me as it was. And I would also yeah go. Go ahead. No, go ahead. I already forgot the plan.
Guest
Go on. I'm so sorry. I was gonna say like, I feel like ever since I got out of high school, a lot of the things I've been doing now when I'm being like, oh should I do this? I've been just kind of saying like, yeah, no one's gonna care. Because like they don't even, they're not gonna see me know like they are doing their own stuff. It's like, why should I think about these people who I don't even pretty much see anymore. I guess like me in high school, it's just so much. There's just so much pressure because you see them all the time. Yeah, and that community you're gonna see all the time It's like a little village.
Yeah, like if something happens there the whole village will know then you have a whole image But then now it's kind of like the village is the whole world now. So it's like everything you do. They're not gonna Look at you out and then bash you. Yeah, so it's just kind of I guess high school is just a different I don't think it's just high school. I think it's any community that you put on Yeah, yeah, I would agree with that. Like it still happens even at a workplace. Right, right. It's just part of life. Yeah. What we do? What we do? What we do?
What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do?
Eric Chow
What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do?
Guest
What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? What we do? Oh, four weeks ago. Okay. Like just like it's very recent. Yeah, very recent. Like, how was it now? Um, no, oh, I think it was right. Oh, it was the week. Uh, I think I went back on social media on my birthday, which was September 29. So it's like that week, the day before that, so the 28th and then six days before that I was like on basically on the bus. Yeah. Yeah. I just wanted to remember, do you call me? Okay, I said social media clean. I didn't say I did not like digital.
Eric Chow
I did mine Was it a week? No, it was a week. It was like it was like spring almost probably like right after spring break something like that Yeah, I think it was like the week or two weeks after spring break. That's what made you want to go on it I felt like I was spending too much time on social media And I wanted to and like a lot of it was mine because a lot of it is mindless like it's the mindless scroll whether it's Twitter whether it's Instagram or whatever Right, yeah, it's like it's like the modern day drugs Well drugs are still big but modern day cigarettes.
Yeah, and like I did it and for me was actually beneficial because social media was the main thing like I did I don't watch a lot of TV. I don't watch a lot of movies Social media is kind of that big content thing hub for me. So for me, it was like, oh, I just saved tons of time. Now what am I going to do with it? No, you really think you have hella time. Yeah. And then a lot of the time, I'm just like, oh, what am I going to do with myself now? Now I have to go find something and I can make it more conscious about it, make it more meaningful.
I'm actually thinking to do it again at some point. I'm thinking maybe I'm actually currently doing like a three-day YouTube one only YouTube because I've been spending too much too long on it lately So I'm I did it yesterday. I'm gonna do it today and tomorrow But then you go on Netflix I don't watch a lot of movies either.
Guest
I do have Netflix Like this morning when I was going through that whole panic thing I was holding my friend because I called her because I was panicking about it and then I was like Dude, I don't like smoke or anything like I'm not into that so like I'm just gonna watch my like watch my anime Trying to chill out through there Like literally, I mean I love social media, don't get me wrong Right, me too That's like life now, right? It's just it's nice to have like go on like little punches Right, I agree I think there's this pros and cons for sure Yeah, because like the reason why I mean There was a time, social media wasn't even invented, and people were living.
It's not like you're gonna actually die from not being on. That's crazy. There was a tweet. It's kind of on topic, the off topic. There's a tweet about a guy who tweeted about the one who invented chemistry, and he did that off of pure strength. Like, he didn't have any social media to search it up. That's crazy. The person that invented math? Off their mind. Off a candle. With a feather pen. 4 plus 4 equals 8. I got it from a fucking candle. I remember when I was younger. Now I'm going off on the tangent before I get it. Okay, I remembered my mom. Yeah, my mom would yell at me because I couldn't do math that well You know when you're sitting on the table and your mom's trying to help you do it.
Oh no. And this is tears. Oh no, I did this. I remember like when I couldn't use my fingers to do math. I'd use my toes. It's how I'm smart.
Eric Chow
I would, you know what I did? I would imagine I would just like focus my attention here. So I would be counting. Oh, that's all I did it. So like my fingers wouldn't move at all. But I'd be like mentally going...
Guest
Oh yeah! She's like, oh man! Don't use her fingers! Yeah! I can't. She's like... Well, mine is six. And when I run out of my fingers, I'm like... I'm like... I can't forget it, like the viewers. They can't see us, but we're all like... We're all like, I think it out like...
Eric Chow
I was also gonna say, I remember this was like last year in physics class. Like she was explaining this crazy concept and like the dude who made it up Archimedes in ancient Greece and he figured out this concept by stepping into a bathtub and I'm like bro what the bro what?
Guest
Imagine being like a total legend and you do like the most like common thing like stepping into a bathtub you're like dude Like a script like this is 19 something.
Eric Chow
Yeah, this is like 1990 maybe NASA had had like two huge like Mistakes that cost ton like probably billions or hundreds of millions something like hella money for the government they were like laughing stock of everything and I think some mirror that they were using in the One of their space stations. I don't know if it's the International Hubble Space Telescope. I don't know what it was. They had a mirror broken They had already lost hella money. They were screwed and They were like okay. We got to fix this but how and no one knew how like the scientists the engine like nobody knew anything and then the dude who figured it out was on Vacation in Germany taking a shower
Guest
Dude what?
Eric Chow
Yes, he like beat me with a genius. And he like looked at like the shower or something.
Guest
I was like, I figured it out. Dude, like that's fucking crazy. Like, geniuses are like, gee-nuses are walking. You know what though? And they're in the studio with us.
Eric Chow
Eric Chow. The thing I was reading was saying like it's not like a genius. It's literally, you know, here's some knowledge. All right, here we go. I'm totally just going to take all the concepts from this book. The guy was talking the book was talking about like there's like focused work where you're like you're really focusing on something That's the one where you're like you're looking at the math problem and trying to figure that that's the focus But there's also diffused where you're not thinking about it You know that time where you're like I don't know how to do this you step away from it You come back you know exactly how to do it Have you ever had those moments?
Yeah, yeah So that's that's when you're using that diffuse mode when you're not focusing on it when you're It's it's like your brain has a lot of different parts When you're using focused work, you're using a certain part of your brain. That part of your brain doesn't have the answer. So you switch to a different part of your brain, which is by not focusing on it, you do something else. You come back to it. That part of your brain is given your firm, the other part of the brain, the answer. So now you know. And so that's exactly what it was. So our comedies, when he was, when he was trying to figure out how to solve the problem, he had no idea.
He took a break. He was going to take a bath and he saw something and it made perfect sense. And the concept was basically measuring the volume of something that's not like a regular shape. Because you know, with volume of like a cube, you can do some calculations or whatever. But if you're like something weirdly shaped, how do you get the equation? He doesn't know. So he took us, he didn't know how to figure out the volume. So he took a step into the bathtub. Water spilled over, he realized, Oh, well, you can just use water and displacement. Because that's also measuring the volume. Right?
Hello, smart. I didn't. In the class I'm like what the hell is going? I don't even get this concept But that's how he figured it out like my dude was trying to relax and take a bath this other dude on vacation in Germany saw the shower head Something about a moving arm or something.
Guest
I don't really remember the details and he was like oh this will work in space So maybe it's like more kind of like all geniuses. We just need to access like yeah, so you're I'm gonna activate my genius right now, okay How does that work? What are you gonna mind blowing? Mind blowing being a tell us? I don't know. What? I did. I get obsessed with memorizing things sometimes. Sure. So like I memorized a couple numbers in pi. Yep. Fun. And then I'm gonna- How far can you go? Like 30 numbers? Oh dang. Yeah. No, because I got bored. So I think that's just memorizing.
That's crazy. That's a lot. I don't... I don't mean... Cause the server is supposed to game. If it's a game to me then it's... Oh, in naming countries. That's a weird party trick. Oh, yeah. I can name countries alphabetically. Wow. I'm really bad at like anything geography.
Eric Chow
Yeah, I mean... Is this a met peninsula? Is it a peninsula? A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha!
Guest
A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A-ha! A So often for theater, I'm just kind of like I don't want to do it for fun. I was so crazy. So like I was helping out this kid in one of the summer camps I worked at and she said like little kids they had like a pie competition So I tried to help her by learning those numbers. Okay, and she would repeat it back to me But she would tell me oh the winner usually goes past 100 numbers It's just crazy how much talented Kids are or how many talented kids.
Eric Chow
Yeah, yeah I knew a guy who could go up to like 90 something he lost it since Good friend of mine. He used to add it to like 90 something and then I was like a couple years later I was like hey By the way remember when you used to know up to 90 how many can you do now? Hm my dude. He did so bad. He's like a 16 Which is still pretty good, but like he was at 90 I'm I think a few digits over a normal calculator, but yeah, I'm only at three point one four. You know the next two digits.
Guest
No, I can take on all 10 guests five. That's the second digit. Well, non-genius. There confirms it non-genius. Oh, yeah, that was this podcast. This is random. Do you think this is the most randomest one? I think this is the answer. Did we go on a tangent? Because sometimes I feel like we're going on a tangent.
Eric Chow
I'm going to be honest with you. I barely remember what happened in each episode. I really don't. That's all he listens to. I don't even listen. I don't. I really don't like listening to my own podcasts. Because you're like... Unless it's been like a while and I completely forgot the conversation. Then you're just like... Then I'm like, okay, this is interesting. But if it's like I'm getting the podcast ready to publish, I'm like... I literally just talked but I have to I really have to listen to this to make sure like we didn't do anything that's like bad or audio didn't have a problem.
Guest
Do you let us listen to it first before you cut it or do you just cut it and then I don't know if I can share it before I upload it. Do you hear me say something potentially offensive? No, I don't think you said I have to do it.
Eric Chow
Even if you do I'll back you up on it, I don't care. Like, any any, I really like anyone that wants to do that.
Guest
I think it's just, I'm gonna retweet it later. My god, how do you say it outro?
Eric Chow
Do you say meta-pump? I do the outro after as well. I do the intros and outros after. Honestly, I just end it with like thank you both for coming.
Guest
Thanks for having us. Thanks for having us. We love you. I love you both. I came into Eric Shouse House. There's two bodyguards.
Eric Chow
That's crazy! Did you like my version of Jarvis? No? Oh yeah, you did it!
Guest
I was like, oh my god! They're watching me and it's like there's so many... wow... fans of Pip! It's a hot damn red-haired Charles Travens. Bye guys! Peace out!
Eric Chow
Hey everybody, thank you so much for listening to episode 13 of the podcast. I hope you enjoyed this conversation I had with Bianca and Eliza and I hope you enjoyed also how we really went across the spectrum from the funny random not so serious want topics to the real and serious topic discussions on things like religion and have finding partners and relationships and social media culture and haters. Of course on the other side, on the random side things like superheroes and celebrity crushes. I hope you guys enjoyed that spectrum of seriousness I suppose I could say. Anyways you can find Eliza and Bianca's social media in the episode description and of course you can always hit me up.
on Instagram and Twitter, underscore, chow, Eric, and let me know your thoughts on the episode. I hope you guys enjoyed it, by the way. I do come up on Spotify, Apple podcasts, Anchor, radio public and more, which I don't know how that works, but that is mind blowing to me. I don't, I really have no idea how that happened, but I'm so grateful for it. So that's just a random fun fact that I am really excited about. Anyways, I'll see you for episode 14. Yeah. Have a fantastic rest of the day.
