About Eric
Who is Eric Chow?
Eric Chow is the Chief Operating Officer of Mashman Consulting Group (MCG), the personal brand consultancy founded by Isaac Mashman. He is a co-developer of the firm’s Identity Positioning™ methodology, the editor and foreword author of the Second Edition of Personal Branding: A Manifesto on Fame and Influence, and the host of The Eric Chow Empowers Podcast. He is based in Union City, California.
Where is Eric based?
Union City, California. Mashman Consulting Group is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas.
How did Eric meet Isaac Mashman?
Through a tweet. In August 2019, two days after Eric decided to launch his podcast, Isaac posted that he was looking to go on a podcast tour. “Being a new podcaster, I shot my shot,” Eric writes in the foreword. Within hours Isaac had given him his phone number, and that month Isaac was his guest on episode 5. They have worked together since. The timeline has every dated step.
What did Eric do before Mashman Consulting Group?
He hosted The Eric Chow Empowers Podcast from 2019 to 2023. He served as an advisor and board member at Mashman Ventures, the public relations firm Isaac founded in 2020, and in 2021 was appointed its Chief Consultant, overseeing client relationships and heading the firm’s consultant division. Mashman Ventures was dissolved in 2024; Mashman Consulting Group is a separate company, built new.
Which accounts are really Eric’s?
Eric uses one handle everywhere: @ericchowreal, on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, X, and Facebook. Many people share the name Eric Chow. An account or article under another name or handle belongs to someone else, and nothing on this site is drawn from one.
The Role
What is Eric’s role at Mashman Consulting Group?
Chief Operating Officer. Isaac Mashman is the visionary and the face of the firm. Eric works behind the scenes, and in the room for the firm’s executive appearances. Isaac brought him into MCG to help grow the company from a technical and nuanced standpoint, because the way the two of them think fits together.
How do Eric and Isaac divide the work?
By temperament. Isaac is the entrepreneur and the visionary: he is more likely to pull the trigger immediately. Eric is the intrapreneur: academic in his approach, he leads with logic and is slower and more calculated. One sets the direction in public; the other works it through and carries it out. How the firm divides the work.
Is Eric’s title official?
Yes. Eric is the Chief Operating Officer of Mashman Consulting Group, and his appointment is formalized in 2027.
Does Eric take on consulting clients?
Consulting engagements run through Mashman Consulting Group, not through this site. MCG is a Done With You consultancy: engagements are accepted by application and seats are limited each quarter. Apply on mashmancg.com (opens in a new tab).
Identity Positioning™
What is Identity Positioning™?
A philosophy and strategy of personal branding that merges an individual’s personal identity with their professional career to craft public authority, demonstrate competence, and develop a faithful following. It is the proprietary methodology of Mashman Consulting Group, academically published in 2024 as Identity Positioning: A Macroscopic View on Personal Branding, and included in full in the Second Edition of the Manifesto.
Did Eric help create Identity Positioning™?
Yes. Eric is credited with helping Isaac Mashman found Identity Positioning™. Over the years, their conversations have been pivotal to the creation of Isaac’s philosophies and to the brainstorming behind them, which is why the methodology is described as developed by Isaac Mashman and Eric Chow. Eric helped develop the philosophy itself, not only the book that documents it.
Where can I try the methodology?

The Manifesto
What did Eric contribute to the Manifesto?
Isaac asked Eric to edit the Second Edition of Personal Branding: A Manifesto on Fame and Influence, published by Mashman Publishing on March 7, 2025. Eric edited it with Michelle Fongeallaz and wrote its foreword. Read from the foreword.
Why did Isaac choose Eric as his editor?
In Isaac’s words, from the book: “I wanted to test the waters and not only benchmark the work that I wrote up until the point I brought him on, but I also wanted to produce something that exceeded the expectations of my readers and that of my First Edition.”
Where can I buy the book?
In paperback, hardcover, ebook, and audiobook from the major retailers. The Manifesto page links to the publisher and every format.
