What is up everybody? Welcome back to the Eric Chow Empowers Podcast. Thank you for tuning in. In this episode, I sat down with my good friend Sam Nanglim to discuss ideas around energy and presence. It's okay if you don't know exactly what those mean, we will clarify in the conversation to come. Hopefully that the insights we share in this episode will help you to live your life more consciously. more authentically and in a way that you can enjoy and hopefully also give you insight on how to deal with some more difficult situations that occur in life. It is my hope that you learn something valuable from the insights I'm nagging I share in this episode because it very much aligns with one of my core beliefs which is as I've just shared living life more consciously.

More authentically and in a way you'll enjoy and I'm super grateful to Sam Nang for joining me and for sharing his insights as well Without further ado this is episode three All right, Sam Nang so you and I were talking two weeks ago about energy and awareness and Now we're here recording a podcast episode on the topics. Yeah, so we're just sharing some insights back then that we had been finding recently about just gauging someone else's energy and how that can be very powerful and also being able to step back from a situation and observe it. So let's, I'm sure most of the listeners don't actually know what the hell we're talking about. So we're going to talk about that.

Samnang Lim

We're going to clarify it. Okay. I think one thing we should talk about first is actually stepping back first. Okay. So that might be helpful in short analyzing energy. So like we were talking about kind of like taking yourself from the present moment and that comes a lot from actually realizing that you're in the present moment and a lot of people don't actually realize that because you can be going through something and go through like you can do something throughout the day and you're not really going to be aware of what you're doing. Or you kind of feel like it's gonna fly by and that's because you're not really trying to like take it in and that's not a bad thing like I I could say that I do that all the time Yeah, and I don't think that it is necessary to always be to be like present in the moment and just realize that you have to be It's more so that you know that you can have the option to and kind of see what's happening around you, you know So you and I were talking about how like You feel like you're living these moments and they're passing by and in the tripping hangout I mentioned to you like in that hangout I write that moment.

We were a present. We were analyzing what was happening around us I know you and I were like looking around. Yep It kind of just examining almost like the different worlds that absolutely tripping students like during like people having sign-on-side conversations and you know that in their perspective it's completely different.

Eric Chow

Right. You know, I mean the vibe is different. People are focused on their own conversation and you and me were just kind of observing how everybody was in their own little world. Yeah.

Samnang Lim

And I think that like being present and like kind of taking a step back is a really good way to kind of reflect on what's happening and kind of how you feel. Also like it's a good way to really like take in a moment. Absolutely. I know like personally I didn't forget what our conversation had. No. And I think that maybe in the past two weeks I've experienced some maybe more like dramatic motions, moments or like more dramatic things that happened to me. But it's weird because I don't exactly remember them. But I can remember something like that. And it comes from like being present. And that leads to like, you know, energy and stuff like that.

Eric Chow

Yeah, and then one thing I'll also add about the the presence thing is there's kind of two ways to be present, right? There's presence as in being a part of what's going on. And so participating in some sort of activity of a group, for example. But there's also the presence that we're talking about here, which is just that sort of stepping back away and looking around and observing and they're both being present. But I think the one that's about stepping back is more conscious. Yeah. and has that awareness aspect to it. So, you know, yeah, it's great to be participating. It's great to be having fun with everybody or whatever.

That's super awesome, but taking a moment to just step back and you don't have to fucking watch the whole time. You can just step back for a little bit. I mean, we were only doing that for a few minutes and then we came right back in. And I think that just brings a little greater of a sense of appreciation, I think.

Samnang Lim

For the moment. Yeah, definitely. And like, I also noticed, like, as I was, like, as I'm trying to, like, build a more, a better lifestyle with me being more present in the moment, it, it's like, you notice that every single time you realize that you, and you become aware of that current moment, your consciousness is like raised, you know? It feels like your mind is like opened, like, you feel like, like, like the part of you that is like, you know, really, like, non-judgmental, non-preferrentable and really like more so more open to perspectives is out there, you know, and like I noticed that being present also helps with like any upsets that you're dealing with and it really helps with you trying to like it really helps with figuring out like kind of what you want and how you feel because a lot I know a lot of people have locked up emotions that they don't necessarily even know that they feel absolutely but you can really see it in habits that they do So much.

Yeah, like anything that they do and one can be really blind to that and like I know that a way to do that like just being present and kind of just reflecting maybe just being aware of what's happening what you're doing is a really really good way to figure out like if you feel like anything is wrong like currently in like your life.

Eric Chow

Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. It's awareness. I think awareness is Interesting because it applies so many different ways, right? We can be applied to ourselves Can be applied to other people the environment around us There's all these different aspects of awareness and each of them have different benefits. Yeah, and you know, I naturally Might be better at one kind of awareness than another and that will help me grow in one specific area first and then I can move on to the other ones exactly and like

Samnang Lim

An example of that is simply noticing when you lash out. I get angry when this happens. Ah, that's a big one. Yeah, and you get, once you become present and see what actually makes you angry, what feels you, then you can really get down to the problem. And that is just with anger. It can be with sadness or anything else. Exactly what you're talking about. It can be for different reasons. So like did you want to transition the energy?

Eric Chow

Yeah, it sounds like we're already kind of moving into it. So yeah, so wait actually.

Samnang Lim

Alright, so like, no, like, you notice that when someone is speaking and like, it's like, hmm, being more on the conscious level, you become more conscious yourself. And like that, you noticed that you ever noticed that like, When you're ever giving advice, there's certain moments where you give the best advice. You see, everything you say just flows so nicely. It just makes sense. And it's like, wow.

Eric Chow

This is those moments too, in my head, I'm just like, man, what I just said right there, that was fire.

Samnang Lim

You know what I'm saying? I would say something. I'd be like, wow, I wouldn't think I'd be able to just say this regularly.

Eric Chow

You know what I mean? Oh, you can't. I just thought about it. Yeah, it's interesting because like, especially with advice. It's like, I never get a think of this, but like at any regular time of day, like I'm not a genius. Like this is not what I'm thinking about all day, but every once in a while I'll have these amazing insights that I'm lucky enough to be able to share. And so oftentimes it's, I'm amazed at the same time I'm saying it.

Samnang Lim

Yeah. And um, oh. So you know recently you know I went to the orientation for Riverside Yes, and we did this thing. I really like called common ground. Okay, so pretty much what everyone was doing was that we're in a circle a huge circle everyone for like all the freshmen's in the orientation and You know they started off by saying like oh yeah, we know that like everyone's different You know we came from different backgrounds. Yep like that common ground is used to like bring it bring people together. Love it. So What you do is you're on the circle and then what they say questions so please stand in the circle if like you're you're a first generation student nice and then you can walk up there and there's gonna be other students up there like you know most definitely always and it's and then I really love what they said they say like once you're in the circle it's a it's a oh it's a really it's a quiet like it's no you don't make any sound you know the only person talking is like the proctor okay so you know You go in the circle and he says oh Notice the people around you, you know the people are like in front of you and around you and like I don't know for one thing I like the word notice because yeah That's a really big part of like our terrific thing and actually and I think it's a perfect word for really describing like Like kind of analyzing around you.

Oh wow Also like I like that because it was like a way that they found to connect people that have actually never really seen each other. And like these questions dive in deeper. Like it came to like, oh, you know, like if you ever, if you know someone who's ever been like sexually abused, like there's been like there was a lot of hard questions for people to really step in. And I noticed that like in those hard questions, people did step in. And it was I noticed that for someone was really hard like they also even had a question at the end I said if you if you did not go in the circle when When you when there was a question that like that apply to you please step in and You know a lot people step a lot of people step into so you can see the people who is like resisting People's that kind of like letting go you know and kind of just yeah, and I noticed that like These hard questions like you know like personally I went up when it was like a project like oh Please step in if you know someone that's like you personally know someone like a close friend or family member That's mentally ill so I walked in and I was kind of like I was like oh I was not you know I mean like you feel like I started to feel in like security and the judgment kind of comes in yeah And I feel like my eyes like the eyes are around me Like you know, I'm like close and like it's really it's really obvious to actually tell how a person feels all in their body language My hands were close because this is like a big room.

Yeah hands were closed. I'm like looking down Wow, but um as it goes and like we're going through these hard questions I like these difficult questions to stand like to stand in and I'm doing it more I'm being more honest with myself. I noticed that like I the feeling of judgment like just kind of release like you know it just falls off the shoulders and It's like a good feeling yeah, it was and I think like the biggest part of the biggest part of that activity is not so like try like yeah, you're trying to see like just knowing that there's people around you that are connected to you even though if they're not like on like you know different different backgrounds completely right um but also like Being content, you know, I found a lot of contentment after I went in and like really like yeah, but you like and be like I'll be like, yes, like this this does apply to me I do support this or like yeah, this does happen in my life, you know and that contentment like finds itself and like another idea I found from that was also like the fact that Going back to like trans personal self like what we've been learning this year sure like that everyone's connected in the way and Like you could really see that like everyone is really connected in any way like a certain way, right?

Like there I met so many people at cell cow, but we all had the similar experiences super super small experiences Super like the same feelings almost like kind of like the same emotion just in a different like Context yeah, contact totally get your world. You know I mean, yeah, so that was something I find pretty interesting

Eric Chow

Yeah, I think that's a beautiful activity. Yeah, I'm establishing that too. Also, it's like, like, I love that they introduced it as like, we're all different. We all come from different places. Yeah. But let's do an activity on what's common about us. And then they start off with something fairly simple, like, okay, are you first gen or not? And most people are probably going to be pretty proud. Like, hell yeah, I'm a first gen. Let's go. But then you get to the harder ones and people get uncomfortable. and then there's that maybe one or two people who start to lead and they're like, nah, I'm going up.

And then other people are like, oh, they're going up too? All right, I'm no longer afraid now. Exactly how it works. I know exactly. And then I'm no longer afraid now. And then some more people are going to go up. And then other people are like, I don't really want to go up. And they'll realize on that last question, they're like, OK, now I'm going out. They get gather that courage and they're able to kind of leave that behind. And I imagine there's, like you said, set the. sense of content, also probably a sense of pride even. Like they were able to let that go and realize.

Samnang Lim

Really like kind of take it in for themselves and be like, yeah, this is me, you know?

Eric Chow

Yeah. And realize like, this is a new, this is totally new place. So like this, how do you want to be? How do you want to start? Exactly.

Samnang Lim

And I love how like, you know, they did this at the orientation, because you know, starting college and starting like a new life. And you come from high school, you know, you have like you have like those masks that you put on, that motion that you put on in front of like certain teachers, certain students, how you feel. But once you go to college, especially if you move or just in college in general, like those big campuses as well, like you, it doesn't really matter about that stuff anymore. You shouldn't be at the point where you should, like you're faking everything. Like honestly, the best way to be is the most genuine.

And I love how they did that because it helps me be like, yeah, this is me. This is how I'm going to act. It creates your authentic. Exactly. Even before college starts.

Eric Chow

I thought that was something that was beautiful.

Samnang Lim

I think that's beautiful. They also, they talk about energy. I was relating to you now. Sure. I know that energy is really hard for anyone to really feel. And I think that, like, You can kind of feel it too like energy is something that like you like most of the time you don't necessarily feel that it's there you don't you know, but I think that like Coming with like being more present and kind of leading that and getting into higher consciousness Maybe kind of like like as you know Shire Mr. Lam like he always says ground yourself first. Yes. Yes. Um You can feel the energy And like, you know, you ever have a conversation with someone and we like we have talked about like you have a conversation with someone and you can like kind of physically feel if they're really there for you're not.

Eric Chow

They're really there at the moment. You can feel someone's like somewhere else. Yeah. Yeah. Like if I'm distracted, not looking at you.

Samnang Lim

My body language is turned away. Yeah. And like it's it's you got to see it like yeah body language a lot of stuff like that. So currently I'm reading I'm actually reading this book. Okay. I'm like baby a quarter in sure it's called skinny legs and all by Tom Robbins It's a it's a book about it's literally by energy. Okay, I'm kind of like living in the flow and one thing that like I like I took from the book that I found really interesting was that like Energy was described almost as radio channels. Okay, and you and I are currently on the radio as the same radio channel, right?

Correct. So we're like kind of sharing the same energy. That's why we're like talking in like a similar manner, right? You know, right. But there could be someone like we said, like that's not really there. That's on another radio channel. Like their energy is somewhere else. And like when you notice, when you try to notice and you notice someone's energy, you notice your energy, it can bring a lot of insight into kind of what's happening, you know, and also necessarily even if where you should be because like If you're resonating around energy that's necessary, not really good for you or toxic in a way, then once you notice that, you can see how you can separate yourself from that and kind of live a better lifestyle.

You know what I mean? Because who wouldn't want to be around people who bring positivity to into their life? There's also criticism and anything like that, you know?

Eric Chow

Yeah, I mean it's the... the five friends closest to you think you're the sum of the five friends closest to you or the five people closest to you, sorry. So if you're going to be the sum of the five people closest to you, why wouldn't you want to be around the best possible five people? Exactly. Because it's going to, it's going to put you on a radio frequency that you want to be on. And if you're communicating with someone on a different radio frequency, I mean, we've all had that. when we're, say arguing with someone, right? I love this radio frequency idea, which is, because like, if I'm arguing with someone and we're just not getting each other, it might be because we're on different radio frequencies.

They're reacting out of maybe anger or something and I'm not, I'm reacting out of something else. Or for whatever reason, we're just not on the same level. We won't be able to communicate properly. And so put yourself around people. that you want to be around and people that you can actually communicate on the same radio frequency with or maybe even people who are at a Different radio frequency that you want to be on things like that. I think I love this radio frequency analogy.

Samnang Lim

I think it's amazing. Yeah, and like Just like I you mentioned the word anger and they really like it really like Kind of opened me into like this new topic. That was thinking about relating to energy. More so of how to really gauge someone's energy if you don't necessarily know. So we can just talk about energy first.

Eric Chow

Yeah. Let's try to explain it to people.

Samnang Lim

Kind of what we're talking about. Yeah. So I believe that you have stamina, obviously. Sure. Yep. Absolutely. Anything physical. Even mental stamina when you're doing something exactly mental stamina kind of like when you're doing homework exactly feel exhausted though. Well, yeah, absolutely energy kind of resides not necessarily more in a physical or a mental ways more like in the More spiritual stuff spiritual way. Yeah exactly. Yeah, like how connected are you right now to you know, whatever's happening right now. Yep. I feel like And that type of energy kind of like resides from like how you think and also Yeah, I think how you think is huge and more so the state that you're in Yep, and like that least like yeah, so like I know that it might be hard to gauge someone's energy But one way you can find out and one way you mentioned is that you said anger and When you notice that when someone's angry their energy is like resonating tense it's Yeah, yeah, it's hard to describe but if you know like you really know and it's like there's a tension there's Yeah, yeah like and like if you would if you want to like kind of get yourself in the way where you can kind of analyze energy You kind of see what state people are in.

Yep, you know like you you know those moments. Do you ever feel sad those faces where you're feel sad? Well, maybe you're eating less You know, maybe you're eating less, maybe you're not really going out as much. But in general, I've been in phases where I've been upset or I've been sad. I do eat a good amount or I still go out a lot. But you feel like you're... Yeah, like, it's almost like you're drained. Yeah, yeah. And when you're angry and it's like... Whoa, the energies residing in me like I want to go out. I want to burst out. Yep, right?

Eric Chow

Yeah, that's that's really one way to analyze it, you know kind of almost by like Like someone's emotions even because emotions sort of state of mind like what you're thinking exactly all those three and like I love what you're saying about like Sadness and anger like for me when I'm feeling down My my thing is My my key that I know I'm I'm really feeling down is I'll be doing things that I normally want to do Watching YouTube watching Netflix. I'll be chilling whatever like I want to do to relax and normally I'm doing that because I want to relax or maybe I mean I might even be avoiding like doing homework or something But when I'm upset when I'm feeling down I'm doing that because I don't want I don't know what else to do and I'm I just noticed like I don't really want to do what I'm doing. I'm just doing it. Exactly. And like that's my key.

Samnang Lim

And that's like going back to like almost like not really being present. Yeah. And also it's really, that really like wow. I really like that. It's like a low energy. So like you really find yourself kind of doing that something you're not exactly doing. It's almost like you're blind. Oh yeah. Yeah. That's why I say that you can never really be present every moment because you're gonna have those moments where you're sat and you're angry and that doesn't exactly mean that you have to get out of that state. Right, you don't. You should be in it. And like you ever notice like you're like so upset or you're so angry and you're completely blind at any of this right now.

Like you know like anything that we have talked about today like if I were to experience a regular upset and I really ground myself first I think that I would just straight up being the upset. Yeah. Yeah. It might take me a long time to really think back about it and be present and be like oh you know Like I was upset and like you know I was kind of like blind to anything else kind of happening around me That's why it's good to I like I wanted to do this in the morning. We kind of ground ourselves first. Yeah, it took a walk. It took a walk and then like My mind like I see speak right now.

It's already opened and that's gonna like project with me for the rest of the day. Oh 100% 100% and also like one thing I want to touch about energy like you ever noticed that like When you're angry with someone when you're sad with someone okay That you're in the same kind of like radio frequency You feel a lot lot more connected absolutely a lot more connected and like that's one way you can really sense the energy is there Yeah, when you're on the same level, I think it's so much easier. Yeah, and what something really interesting that I think I mentioned to you I'm not sure if I did but you know, I have a friend who you know like kind of like partaking himself in like drugs, psychedelic drugs, more so in the way of like seeing how you know how he acts around it, kind of to see the experience.

Experimenting. And he was mentioning to me like while he was tripping and like everyone's tripping, he can really feel if someone was really talking to him while they were both tripping. And at the same time, he mentioned the fact that like whenever he was with a sober person, He felt like he was being brought down. Like, because the person is not necessarily really there. They're more like noticing. Cause like, they can see you from the outside and be like, oh, you're tripping. But he, like that person would like kind of look out and see like, who's on the, who kind of understand what I'm seeing right now?

Or feeling right now, you know? That's why like he mentioned like, like even, even with drugs. you would want to set you want to group yourself with people in the same consciousness as you because obviously you know that's gonna lead to a better trip better experience yeah and you can apply that to just regular life every time and like one thing he brought up to me was like he's bringing up like his um his friend and kind of like when she was tripping like she was changing you know she was saying one thing then saying the other or like feeling one emotion, feeling the other, and it was kind of back and forth.

And like, he was talking to me about his insight about that, like how he noticed that and how it relates to her childhood problems, like experiences that she didn't get the partake in, a lot of stuff like that. And that's just based off like literally analyzing energy, seeing how people act. And like, I think that's kind of amazing to kind of like To really know a stem of a problem even like if you don't like Truly like know the story of it. I totally yeah Like it's weird like you ever like talked to someone and they mentioned you about their problems and then kind of how they feel and You could all kind of already have an idea that what might have happened to them to make them 100% and it goes back to you know I think shadow I think when you're talking to someone too and you start matching emotional intensity to use it.

Eric Chow

Yeah a tripping idea. For the listeners, if you don't know, it's just basically if someone's sad, you're going down and being at that sort of same energy level that they are. If they're like low energy, if they're low energy, you're also fairly low energy. If they're really excited, you're going to be fairly excited. That's kind of matching emotional intensity. And it's like, when you do that, you feel so much more connected to them. And I think when you match with someone's emotional intensity and you're on the same level, you feel more connected. I think there's also a sense of comfort that the two of you get to have.

And then there's also, I think especially for a listener who is on that same frequency as the speaker, there's also just a sense of presence and like a sense of awareness like, oh, that's where they're coming from, baby.

Samnang Lim

And like it makes it so easy for the person inventing, the person saying something to see that like the person listening to them is mashing them and feeling that's the same way they're feeling because if they're going through an upset or anything like you want that person to really feel how you felt even if they weren't there, you know, and it helps build better bonds. Yep. How better conversations bring more insight and that's just about energy which touches a lot. It's not just about talking. You don't actually need to be around people to sense energy. No. You can kind of sense energy yourself and see how you feel around certain things.

Yeah. So, yeah, it's just matching, like just seeing that within yourself is like something good within itself. You know, you don't need to be around people to really sense energy even though that might help.

Eric Chow

Yeah. Yeah. I think also being around people. When you're when you're around people and you're on two different levels or if there's more multiple people everybody's on a different level everyone Naturally wants to come to the same level It might not always happen. Yeah, it might not always happen. Some people are going to be really stubborn and usually not even consciously stubborn They're just naturally that way.

Samnang Lim

You have like that one person sitting down on their phone. Can everyone else's? conversing you know, yeah

Eric Chow

Yeah, yeah, exactly. That would be one example of like someone being a little stubborn with their energy, but naturally to connect and humans want to connect, we want relationships naturally. People want to move to the same energy level. And unfortunately, sometimes that does mean the person at a higher energy level with maybe more of a loving, joyful, content sort of energy might come down to a lower level where they're upset and the environment you're in kind of dictates that especially the home environment especially the home environment so if everybody's always upset everybody's always angry that's your base energy yeah the environment is really important it really matters about where you are the setting and like like I noticed that like when I'm around certain places my energy is higher

Samnang Lim

Maybe I'm not like for me I'm still finding answers to why that might be it might be because of maybe personal like past Experiences so I have a better like relationship kind of with this with this place Sure, it might be something else to like the environment is like really important and like I think that like that within itself resonates energy and That that that's just really important to kind of not just more so on the energy perspective but also going back to our last topic talking about being present Those two really come together and once you really like trying to take back take a step back Become present notice energy you just you can see so much more that's happening around your life You see right now and come back to the fact that like sometimes you're in phases where you're blind Yeah, but the instant open yourself up And just allow yourself to just go with this flow to go with everything around you to to know that like to know that like The past experiences that you experienced the upsets they're set and the future it's not really known.

Yep. Just to just really go with the flow go with the river like and I've like I have like tried to incorporate that much that idea into myself a lot. Even then like really weird, sporadic ways like I would lose money, you know, and I would say it's okay. It's okay. I can't change it. I'm gonna pass this. I'm gonna just go. Yeah, and this can be and there was like okay, so I lost okay. It's funny stuff. I lost $20, right? Okay, and I did that to myself and I said that to myself. Oh, it helped me like a week later I lost like $100 right and I was like it's okay, but like this a tear like falling down Okay as crying you know, you're falling down my face like you don't always have to instantly be okay with every no you shouldn't be in fact I would even say like I think that knowing, like having the idea that you know that you can be better and you can be in a better consciousness, you can be in a better emotion, is really important.

Like, and that doesn't necessarily mean you even have to do it, just knowing that you have the opportunity to do it. So you don't ever really feel like really, really stuck. You know, like, I know that I have the opportunity to be like that, but I don't choose to all the time because sometimes you want to experience that sadness, you know? And like, it's cool knowing that you... It's cool knowing to me that I'm free, that I can think however I like to think. You have a choice. Yeah. You have a choice. And like, that really helps whenever you feel like trapped.

Eric Chow

Yeah. I think I'll touch on two things. First one was the environment and where that energy comes from. I think you're right. Absolutely. Part of it is... Just personal experience and what a place attaches for you like I look out here to this park that we're next right next to and I've grown up in this neighborhood my whole life so This park lots of memories lots of fun also has a sense of peace for me because I come out and walk around all the time and Just helped me ground myself and that's why it was nice that we did the walk here, too. Yeah But then I was also thinking about my travel experiences.

I've been lucky enough to do some amazing traveling and I don't have any experiences You know in a random Ford country or for other state that I'm in like there's no way but Sometimes I do kind of feel the energy and I I can still remember like some places have such amazing energy for me and You know one time like last year for example this will always be one of my favorite memories last year I was on this random island middle of nowhere and I was so elevated Huge sense of you stare it's crazy out of there So like I was I had so much joy to use tripping terms that most people want to stand cornucopia love conscious awareness like up there you were fighting your man I was up there so Yeah, no, like the whole time.

The whole time I was on the island and like huge insane sense of joy Insane sense of just like gratitude Total sense of peace like there was no problems in life and like feeling that peace is one of the best songs ever and like this is the random place like I have no attachments in this place at all whatsoever I've I'm pro I mean it's gonna be decades probably to like go back there again exactly Like, what were you? By the way, uh, Capri, Italy. Wow. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. It's amazing.

Samnang Lim

Like, I don't even know what that is on a map. I have no idea.

Eric Chow

I just know like Italy's like, cause, cause like, and I, I could feel it cause like it's so breathtaking, you know, it really is.

Samnang Lim

Your experience is so different from what you experienced in the past.

Eric Chow

So that place is a little different though than I think most places because. Even now, as I think about it, talk about it, I'm already kind of feeling elevated already. You can feel it. Yeah. Because I just remember how that feels. But I think even for other places too, like not just like something that incredible, other places I've been lucky enough to go to that are still amazing, but you know, not that quite that sort of spiritual kind of experience still has an interesting sense of energy that makes that's very interesting. I think nature especially has a certain sort of energy. I think cities have a certain sort of energy.

Yeah, just that is the environment. I think nature has a sense of peace usually cities not so much peace but there's an I don't really know how to describe it. I don't know if you have a word coming to mind.

Samnang Lim

It's sporadic. It's it's kind of free-flying. Yeah. There's parts of different cities where you feel different things. Obviously, if I'm in one part of a city where it's not really as active, I'm not going to feel like my energy is really right out there. I agree. Whenever I travel down, I go down, have fun. Maybe I have San Jose. Sure. Energy is out there. It's sporadic. I'm looking around. I want to see what's around me. I want to experience what's coming to me. If it's maybe another part of San Jose, kind of like odd. kind of like East San Jose, I would, you know, kind of die down a little bit.

Eric Chow

So the environment, yeah, back to the back.

Samnang Lim

So pretty much what we're saying is, energy is everywhere. Yeah. So when in people, places, places, even like experiences, I would say, even memories, right?

Eric Chow

Yeah. Like you said, you brought up a memory, boom, the energy is there. Yeah. I can literally, yeah. And like, even when I'm upset, sometimes I think about that and I just I mean, it's not... I wish I could just instantly elevate myself to that level of energy, but it's still a little push-up, and I think that's cool. And then the other thing you were talking about was just that ability to like, when you're in like a certain state, say you're sad, you're angry, you're upset, or even when you're like joyful, whatever, you have the choice to sort of be in it, and sometimes you want to experience it.

In fact, I think you should experience it, right? Even if you're sad and you're angry you don't want to just change it to content because You need to experience You know we're human we want to experience that full range of emotion that we can have exactly so we want to stay in sadness and Anger for some time we have to in order to process situations, you know if I'm thinking about a funeral like there's no way I'm just gonna be like I don't need a grieve. I'm just like cool. Love you buy. No, I can't do that. I have to spend some time. You're not having the same energy as me.

I'm just leaving. I mean, you're not going to do that. You have to be in that grieving moment, for example, in that case. But in regular situations too, because we don't go to funerals every day, at least I hope not. Regular situations when you're sad or you're angry, you need to experience that. It's good for you to experience. It's good for you to... Be in a different state of mind.

Samnang Lim

Maybe you've learned something maybe you get in a different perspective Yeah, and I like how you mentioned that like just real quick like it's good to feel not good. Yeah, you know, yeah, because It's more in a broad scheme of things sadness like you know happiness Why what why don't they deserve the same attention? Why would they deserve the same? Energy into it, you know, like why can't I treat these happy moments? Like the sad ones. Yeah. Other way around. Um, it could. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So yeah, just like almost kind of like, like you said, just free flying, going with it. It doesn't really matter.

Like if you're like, if, if you do not like these sad moments, you have to come to a point where you kind of have to be content knowing that this will happen. It's becoming your life. And the more prepared you are for it and the better you'll be in the future.

Eric Chow

And I think, I totally agree with you, I think experiencing it is so important and so beneficial. I think I'm kind of struggling to explain why, but I hope I'm kind of portraying like, it's important to spend time being in those quote unquote negative emotions. But we do have that choice to shift, right? We have that choice to find peace, gratitude, whatever. And I think that's also important. Because we don't want to be stuck in the negative emotions and I think that's the key We need to experience it but not be stuck in it. Yeah, not be controlled by it exactly. Well, it's gonna lead to to not be controlled This is why we're on the same energy actually not be controlled by it and like for me right when I was saying When I'm feeling down I tend to do things that I usually do but with a lower energy with the sense of I'm doing this mindlessly At that point, when I realized that, I'm like, okay, wait a minute, I shouldn't be doing this.

This means I'm just, I'm not really experiencing the energy, number one. And I'm kind of just letting myself be controlled by this low energy. No, screw you, I don't want to be in that energy. I'm going to either A, choose to experience that energy just in silence on my own, or maybe I'll put in music, whatever it is, go on a walk, whatever, experience the energy. Or I can choose I'm going to elevate. How am I going to do that? I'm not going to let myself be controlled by this emotion. Any more I'm not going to experience this emotion any more than I need to. Yeah, if it's over, if I'm done with it, it's time to move on.

Samnang Lim

Yeah. And like, I like how you brought up control. So yeah, like, you, like in those cases where you feel like you're stuck, you that's when you do want to like Change the energy you have like in the motion you have kind of present and Obviously to like any of the listeners if y'all going through any upsets and you guys feel like it stuck you're stuck just remember like you don't have to follow us or anyone else to say like yes You have to change you you have you ultimately have the choice to like to stay in that phase if you do if you do want to and like just Bring back to what you said by control like You have that control, you know, to do that or not. It's also it's just really whether if you want to take it in.

Eric Chow

Yeah. But yeah, it goes back to the point like knowing that you have you have the power to do that. Yeah. I'll pretend that I think one other thing is my point of view is pretty much anything I say if I give any opinion, any advice, it's always this is my opinion. I am not saying I am right. Yeah. I do not think I am right in every case. I think I usually am right for me. What is right for someone else? Maybe different from what is right for me when I give advice, when I give my opinion. It's coming from my experience, maybe the experiences of those around me.

But I don't think I'm right. I think that I'm right for me. I think that since we're on the same energy level right at the moment, we're right to each other. To each other, we think we're right. To someone who may be on a different radio frequency it doesn't make sense and that's not a bad thing at all It is not a bad thing at all.

Samnang Lim

We all have choices we all and I think it goes back to self-awareness What's right for me may not be right for someone else self-awareness Yeah, and I think I have one last thing to touch on before I can kind of give her final thoughts. Yeah, I find my thoughts So yeah, like Erica saying we have Our way of saying what is right for us, what works for us. You know, I think that you and I we both share like a similar mindset. Absolutely. And the way we think of stuff. So I think that it's it's really similar. But you know, these ideas of like energy being present can resonate in anything else.

Any other experience you ever listened to, make religion, anything that you have learned, it might come in another form, but like. Just know that like in some way it's all connected and like if you guys really want to like really Kind of change or maybe take to control like be more aware of What you're doing? What we're saying in this podcast you might have actually already learned before You might have heard it before but like after you listen to this just know that just you want to have that constant reminder if you do want to change like to kind of just put yourself on You know you want to be on on top of it if you want it like if you can If you want the change you have the choice you have the power to do exactly and like I think that the whole purpose of this podcast that me and Eric's doing is saying is Kind of like we're we're in your heads for today whenever you're listening to it, you know point on Friday on a sad day this podcast and No matter what emotion you're in you're upset you're angry you're happy Just know that like you could change that right now if you want to mm-hmm, and I think that's pretty much what I want to say.

Eric Chow

Yeah Yeah, yeah, all so I'm gonna add my final thoughts later when I finish recording but some thank thank you for joining me on this Yeah, it was a play I actually love doing this and like I love that we did it like free flowing.

Samnang Lim

Yeah, absolutely like If I'm being honest to the viewers and everything, we came in and said, all right, let's talk about this one topic and see what goes on for the day. We had no outline whatsoever. Yeah, and that's just from kind of resonating the same energy. You can see how how much more. Because sometimes I'm a crazy guy and I don't really, I'm not super, super conscious of what I'm saying or for what I'm doing. Yeah, right now I am. It's going to set the tone.

Eric Chow

It's good for the rest of the day, exactly. I think starting off your morning especially with just one last thing on energy is start off your day with the energy you want to start with.
