What is up everybody? Welcome to the very first episode of the Eric Chow Podcast. I am so excited that you guys are here tuning in, listening, and it truly does mean the world that you are doing so. So if you are, please hit me up on Twitter, Instagram, underscore Chow Eric. Let me know that you're listening. It would truly mean so much to me. This is just going to be an introductory episode to the podcast. I'm going to explain just the overall idea of me creating a podcast and that's going to involve three parts which is the purpose of all my content and why I think a podcast is a form that I want to try experimenting in.
to meet that purpose. The second thing is just the types of episodes I am planning to create. And the third is just some other thoughts on the podcast space and about my own podcast that we are going to be creating here. Again, thank you so much for listening. Let's get started. First I want to talk about just the goals and purpose of all of my content regardless of the medium or form that they are in so regardless of whether it's an article whether it's a video a post on Instagram or tweet or this podcast my goal is always the same I always want to empower other people to Be able to live better lives and that is my goal.
Obviously I can't empower people's lives financially because I don't have the means nor the experience do that. And so what I try to do is spread positivity and learning and growth and I do that by sharing insights that I've gained over the years through my experience.
through friends, through mentors, through my family, and also through what you guys actually share with me and we discuss and we create together. And empowering others to me is so important because I want people to be able to live their lives like they want to live it. I want people to live their lives consciously in a way that brings them meaning and fulfillment in their lives, allows them to enjoy their lives and allows them to get through the difficult times, which are unavoidable, to get through the difficult times a little bit easier and actually learn something from it because I think it's so important to learn, grow, become a better human being.
I also think that media and the world tends to look at things negatively. We see a lot of news, especially that is full of hate, anger, accusations against other people. And you know, these are all fair and you know, sometimes we do need to be negative and be a little harsh because we do need to create change in many ways, but I also think that it's important to spread the more positive aspects of life. We can't just, I mean if we just focus on all the negative and sucky parts, then what are we really doing here, right? So that's always my goals to spread that sense of positivity. And for me that especially means gratitude and that means growing and learning.
And that's always my goal with all of my content. With a podcast, I think that podcasts are great because they allow for passive consumption. And what that means is consuming it while you're doing something else. So it's one thing to sit down and watch an IGTV video to watch a YouTube video to read an article or whatever it may be. But with a podcast, since it's just audio, you can actually be doing other things. And so many people listen to podcasts while driving while getting ready in the morning, while on their commutes to school and to work. I personally like to listen to podcasts while I'm out on a walk or a run around my neighborhood or while I'm doing chores.
Other people also like doing it when they go exercise at the gym. The thing podcasts are great for that. So podcasts just allow people to Save their time essentially instead of spending time watching a video reading an article they're able to do other things while consuming the content and Time is the most precious commodity that we all have right if we look at currency any form of money You can spend it, but you can also earn it back by going to your job or doing things like that with time, you spend it and it's gone. It's so important to save time and I think that creating a podcast will allow me to provide my content in a way that can be consumed passively.
If that is something that you listeners prefer, then it is something that I want to try and there's only one way to find out which is the try it. And so that's just my whole idea behind doing a podcast. So now that I've explained just the purpose of my content and my idea of this podcast, I'm going to talk about just the types of episodes that I want to create which starts with the idea of passive consumption.
So with regard to the types of episodes that I want to create, I want to actually read aloud my own articles while possibly adding extra notes and explanations and possibly stories as I speak and provide my articles in audio format. And so you guys will have the option to listen to me narrate my own articles. or read them, whichever one you guys end up preferring. So my articles will always be available for you to read and will continue to be available as I create more. If you choose, you will also now have the option to actually consume them in audio form through the podcast. And I will be doing something similar with my IGTV videos. I plan to extract the audio.
and post those in podcast form as well so that instead of watching the video, you can listen to the audio. And that's just another option for you guys. And so that will put my currently existing content into a form that is able to be passively consumed, which I discussed earlier. The third kind of... episode that I want to create is just the classic podcast, which is just discussion of ideas. I might be answering questions that I that you guys gave me. I might be just discussing the thoughts and ideas that I have in general, the things that are on my mind. And this will just be an option for me to.
in a way rant, but not quite because I do have the purpose that which I discussed earlier that will sort of guide the episodes anyway. And so it'll be kind of just some sort of in between, between ranting and providing really thoughtful answers that refer to my purpose. So it will be hopefully an interesting middle.
And that is also the format where I might actually have guests. I have not invited anyone yet because this is the very first episode. I've not gotten any requests because very few people actually know I have been thinking about this. And I don't have any plans to have a consistent co-host nor guests. But I think that occasionally having someone else here to talk about it will be incredibly beneficial because this should be a community. This should be a community of people wanting to grow and learn and be positive and be grateful. And I want to involve my friends and other people that I look up to.
So my mentors to actually be here and discuss things with me and help me meet my purpose and hopefully bring more and more value to my life and to everyone else, all of you guys, your lives as well. Finally, just to kind of close out this introductory episode, just some other thoughts on the podcast, I do plan to combine my narration of articles and the audio from videos into an episode and so I'll combine a few into an episode just to make it a little longer. I don't want to really post like a four-minute episode. I feel like that's too short of a podcast episode so I do plan to combine them and combine a few into one. The other thing is this is all an experiment.
I'm trying to see if I like creating podcasts and also seeing if you guys enjoy it if you guys enjoy Consuming it and if you guys think that this passive consumption idea is something that will be good for you guys So please please please let me know if you want me to keep doing podcasts as I start to pump out the first few episodes give me feedback give me thoughts Let me know you're enjoying it because otherwise I might stop because I don't know if you guys are enjoying it or not unless you tell me. So please do. This is all an experiment. I don't know.
Experiments. I don't know how long I'll be keeping up the podcast. We'll see. This is all kind of up in the air and I've tried to lay out all my thoughts about it in this episode. With regards to podcast titles, first things first, I need to find out how I'm going to be doing this fairly consistently or not.
I don't really have any ideas on podcast titles, so for now, this is the Eric Chow Podcast. And I suppose that's a good transition to just end. So thank you guys so much for listening to this introductory episode to the Eric Chow Podcast. I'm pretty excited to see where this is going to go because I have no idea. It'll be an interesting experiment for me. hopefully for you guys as well. I don't know how many of you actually listened to podcasts. Yeah, thank you so much for tuning in. Again, please hit me up Twitter, Instagram. If you have my number, you can text me. Let me know what you're thinking about this. Let me know you're listening. And thank you so much for giving me your time. Have a fantastic day.
